1.) Ditch the ninjas. GI Joe is ultimately about a military organization fighting a terrorist threat. The SE/SS shoehorned plots only detract from what the franchise is really about.
2.) Screw previous interpretations. I get the love for the comics and Larry Hama and I get the love for Sunbow but this middle road of trying to please old schools fans and attract new ones is doing the franchise no favors. Take the base concept and do something else with it. Let Sunbow be Sunbow, the comics be the comics and the movies be something else. 3.) Ditch reality, embrace the fantasy. The more they try for realism, the more I believe it'll turn the casual moviegoer off - we see real terrorists on the news every day.

Romance. GI JOE is at its core a LOVE STORY between two incredible characters....Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow.
That and kill them both off in the pre-credits sequence. |

I don't need uniforms and toys that are ARAH accurate, but I would like movie toys that are accurate to the film designs. ROC did a decent job with the figures, but the Cobra Gunship and Night Raven were disappointments. Retaliation had some figures that were spot on, but Colton, Lady Jaye, Jinx, and Cobra Commander were lazily executed. Most of wave 1 & 2 were basically custom fodder. None of the vehicles really matched to movie versions. The closest match was the Ninja Commando 4x4.
