Comic Con gives "sneak peaks" on such films, a year before debuting in theaters. Example.
X-MEN APOCALYPSE (2016) should get a "sneak peak" at this year's Comic Con (2015)... Bryan Singer Confirms X-Men: Apocalypse Hall H Appearance | Comicbook.com There's nothing G.I. Joe 3 at Comic Con 2015, so its likely there's nothing ready by 2016. |

Given prior commitments from Hasbro and Paramount, I'm fully expecting a new GI Joe film in 2017 (2016 is looking increasingly unlikely right now). Especially given the lackluster domestic results for the recent Terminator film.

Good news is, we mayble able to see an extra round, of the following... http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...-80s-arah.html GI Joe needs some infusion of...SOMETHING besides another round of repaints, kit-bashes and retreads, and I don't feel Hasbro would dedicate an entire brand team for that purpose. I'm still under the view that Hasbro is going to do SOMETHING with GI Joe in 2016, movie or not. Not that a movie in and of itself has proven to be that extreme a brand elevator in Joe's case to begin with.

That new movie can't come fast enough. Not because I'm excited for it, oh no. It's because I can't wait for this ridiculous franchise to be over with, so all parties can move on and let go.
Joes 3 will be more of the same. Mediocre action flick with GI Joe slapped on the package along with the other marketing gimmicks of The Rock and Bruce Willis. It's up to Hasbro at this point. Time for a divergence.

God I hope not, and it would be a waste of the resources Hasbro has brought together under the GI Joe brand team. I also think that after two relatively lackluster film toy lines, I think Hasbro is going to approach future films like Playmates/Nick approached the recent TMNT feature film or Hasbro themselves have done with TRansformers: establish a recurrent "core" product line, and us the movies as seasonal "expansions" rather than the all in approach Hasbro's done in the past. It's pretty clear at this stage a feature film alone is NOT (or at least extremely unlikely) to be the brand pusher Hasbro had hoped it would be, and a more traditional approach may be necessary (ie, cartoon and toy product aimed at kids first, without concern for collector wants). As to the toyline? Hell, at this stage, I think Hasbro's options are pretty damned open: GI Joe hasn't been a major player at retail (ie, not carried by either of the two largest toy retailers in the US) for almost 3 years (debatably 4 given how the whole Retaliation deal ended up and the weak support in early 2012 to begin with). This means Hasbro has a pretty free reign to do whatever they want with the product range, be it a 2.5" vehicle centric line to a larger character centric line like Sigma Six or classic 12". We could easily see a reduced articulation 3.75 line be the "core" of the line (like Star Wars Rebels), we could see 2.5" vehicle/playset approach (Marvel movie lines), or we could also see the return of GI Joe as a premium large scale figure (Sigma Six or Monster High). I don't see the ME styled premium 3.75 figure with large scale vehicles as being practical at this stage. Hasbro either needs to produce a cheaper product, or present a more compelling value for the dollar. Both of which will probably NOT result in things collectors want. Ultimately, I still think 2016 is about as good a time as Hasbro's going to get: their 2016 slate is relatively light (they won't support the Fox Marvel films due to corporate bickering, Marvel only has two features (and Dr Strange probably won't see anymore support than what Ant-Man is getting now), there are no new show premieres from Disney or Hasbro, and neither the Joe or TF films are going to make it out), which leaves a solid opportunity to give Joe a half decent shot

I feel Hasbro must have some sort of media element in play to justify a full brand team to be assembled. Whether that is a recurrent series (or if said series is an online mini series or full weekly format) or a direct to home movie (which seems to have worked well for Mattel's Monster High), I continue to believe that they would not pull together that kind of resources just for another round of unsupported store exclusive repaints and kitbashes.

Hopefully at comic con we will get some info, maybe a hint of things to come! |

Retaliation was in theatres back in march of 2013. My gut feeling is that the project is dead in the water, and the cast has moved on with thier careers.
