Unusually enough the idea of a highly evolved more nature based 'alien' culture which preceded man of today kind of goes very much along with the Ancient Aliens precepts. Even more so with the idea that remnants of that culture are now underground- both literally and figuratively. In fact in some ways the idea of Cobra-La is a concept who's time has finally come!

Except the millions if the film fails to make back its budget

I view Cobra La as something on par with Unicron in Transformers: a massive, complex and hugely expensive concept that would be HORRIFICALLY difficult to produce in a 2 hour feature that still remains in the somewhat grounded world of the GI Joe films. That isn't to say I couldn't see elements of Cobra La being incorporated (like as part of a genetic plot), but I don't think we'll ever see a full bore "ancient alien snake race of organic technology" like we saw in the original animated film And I say that as a professed Cobra La fan!

And if they decided to go ahead and make cobra-la an alien race it wouldnt be much off of the comics storyline at this point with the pitt being on top of an alien object . Makes sense but will it sell , the last 2 movies werent exactly blockbuster sellouts .
