Like most of the people out there, I saw all four Transformers movies and the two G.I Joe movies and I own all 6 movies on blue ray. But who here agrees with me that those live action movies were horribly written and didn't have good stories. Like in Retaliation, since when Roadblock is leader, just because is The Rock. They killed of Duke too fast and his death was the shittiest death I've ever seen in a movie. And to top it all off, Roadblock could of said "This is for our fallen Joes, Yo Joe!!" Not Hell yeah.
I am sorry for what I wrote, I am just frustrated about how both movies were poorly written. And to be honest, I would like if G.I Joe can find a better director and reboot the franchise (movieverse). Now, once that's done we can have a decent G.I Joe cartoon just like Transformers got with Animated, Prime. Thoughts? Last edited by CobraDuke; 02-25-2015 at 07:39 PM.. |

I've never understood the opposition to Roadblock as a team leader. Is it solely because he was never thought of as a leader in the comic or cartoons? He was probably the most dependable Joe on the entire team in the comics. He was Duke's right hand man from the start, and Hawk trusted him just as much in a few situations. Like when the team was framed and hunted down, and Roadblock had to lead whatever soldiers he could to free Hawk and reveal that they were set up.

I have to disagree on a handful of points:
poorly written? Sure, but I don't think the STORIES either film presented were any worse than the tripe we put up with in the old comics, much less the cartoon. As Ford said, Roadblock has long had a strong leadership position in the comics (and I feel that, along with the reworking of Flint and Lady Jaye, worked to make Retaliation feel fresher than a rehash of prior character elements). Frankly, I'm surprised you felt so strongly about Roadblock's leadership position compared to Flint's rework into the "cocky new guy". At this stage, NOBODY should be expecting high class cinema from GI Joe, just as with Transformers. Even for as high a pedestal people tend to put the Marvel cinematic Universe, even THAT has flawed films, or films that serviced a bigger story more than the film itself. Also, I've watched TF: Prime and Renegades, and Renegades was generally a better series by the end of its 26 episodes than Prime was at the same stage, and I think Renegades actually did MORE with its freedom and concept than Prime ever did with its.

Have you kids heard about the live action version Sheldon Lettich was working on back in the day? Lettich is a veteran of the Marine Corps who served in Vietnam then went on to work with Stallone on Rambo III and made a name for himself working with Jean-Claude Van Damme on Bloodsport, Double Impact, Lionheart, etc.
He was flown out to Hasbro HQ to pore through Joe materials and did a draft or two before the project went into turnaround.
