I don't know why people are disappointed that this movie will not have the G1 syle. I don't even know why people even considered it being that way. The past 10 years all the movies based on Cartoon/Comic titles we sit there and say "that's not how it was in the cartoon/comic". So I don't know why people expected GI Joe to break this trend.

Transformers was a surprise, but I think it was because I had such low hopes for it, so it surprised me. I went into X3 thinking and hoping it would be good, but I had my doubts, and it totally sucked. Spider-Man 3 was another example of me really expecting something awesome, and I was let down severely by bad story and shit that didn't belong, like tap-dancing and silly shenanigans like that. Wolverine was a 50/50 film. I didn't love it, but didn't hate it. It was better than I expected, but way worse than I wanted. Dark Knight and Iron Man blew me away, AND I had high hopes. Hulk, on the other hand, I was iffy about and was surprisingly really really impressed, although I had hoped it would be good. Superman Returns, I had hopes for, and thought I'd like it from what I saw in the trailer, but at the end, I felt it was just not very good. Not a total flop, but I was let down. GI Joe? So far, I'm not impressed by the trailers, so my hopes are already way down. The leaked figure designs suck (unlike a bomb like Fantastic Four or Ghostrider, at least I felt the characters looked recognizable). It may not be a total failure, but it's missing out on either story, or design, or both if you ask me. I hope the story can hold it up, but I have serious, serious doubts about it. |

A refreshing new take on the Joe huh?? Well you can buy those refreshing new figures they come out with for the movie and can quit asking for modern line figures of the old ones we grew up with.

Not necessarily. I had zero hopes for Transformers, and it ended up being at least entertaining and I enjoyed it. It wasn't anything close to what I wanted, and despite liking it, it still was not a good movie, but as far as a summer blockbuster with badass transforming robots, it could have been far, far worse. A Bay success, much like Armageddon. Was Armageddon good? No, but it was a mindless adventure film that did amazingly well at the summer box office.

You can not ingore the fact there is a seriously large amount of individuals that are not going to like this movie, what is about and what "change" it is forcing upon the future of GI JOE. It is a total slap in the face to all who knew GI JOE. The reason they went "black" is so they can get all the EMO and Columbin High School wannabe terrorists into the theatres ala Matrix cool guy in trenchcoat attack sequances for them to googoo at.
They have made a serious mistake turning people away form this, you would have thought they would want this message board to be engulfed in massive amounts of posts of how awsome the movie is going to be. This could have been my stance, I might have given it a chance had they took notes from their Resolute counterparts and Hasbro's push of the 25th anniversay figures. I do not understand these changes and never will. By ignoring it all and just seeing to see an action movie defeats the purpose and gives money to those who do not deserve it for such a mockery and laughable representation of something I entriley enjoyed. I had not been keeping up with all of this movie crap until I found the 25th anniversary characters at a Target one night. When I saw how awesome they had made the new figures I was like "whoa is this what the movie is going to bring back, will it actually once again make me love GI JOE?" I got really excited at that point and tried to stay away from watching any trailers or looking at any screenshots. But guess what, the inevtiable happned and I saw the power suits, the cheesy actors, and all the other garbage so far put out (what little they have as they know they have messed up big time and fear what will happen if they show more)and everything went down hill from there. They looked nothing like GI JOE and definealtey nothing like the 25th\modern line. If these chnages were damned nessecary and all of you love that so much Hasbro should have just re-released Sigma 6 as 25th logoed packaging, I could have stayed non-collector and saved an assload of money over the last couple of years. the 25th line reguvinated my will to spend money on thier products and I aslo spent a ton of money on vintage vehicles out there for some folks trying to sell stuff off on ebay to make some money in thie rediculous economy. If it was not for the 25th\modern figures, that would have never happened. Now ROC ruins it all and puts us right back in the Sigma 6 era. Thanks for nothing! |
