I won't go see it in the theater for the same reason I did not go see Wolverine or Star Trek and won't go see Transformers, these movies don't interest me enough to waste $30 on each of them at a movie theater. Hmmm, spend $30 to see a movie I am not too thrilled about or save the $30 and buy another Cobra Island 7 pack? I'll take the 7 pack and skip the movie. As I said though, I will buy the movie when it comes out on DVD because I can watch it as many times as I want in the comfort of my own home. If I don't like it then I am only out about $15 each, which is what they usually cost on DVD release day.

I don't know it will suck but it seems to be they changed too much for it to truly feel like a G.I. Joe movie.
1. Black Ripcord. 2. Ripcord in the movie instead of any some 60 more deserving characters (Stalker, Flint, Lady Jaye, Spirit, etc). 3. Heavy Duty instead of Roadblock. 4. British Heavy Duty (this may not bother me too much seeing as how HD isn't that big of a name to me). 5. Cobra Commander could be "Skeletor" or "Mum-Ra" or "Shredder" and it would of been just as accurate. That is to say it looks nothing like him. (You get to see at least half his face the entire film!) 6. Cobra breaking away from Destro rather than the other way around. (MARS Troopers look more like Cobra Troopers than the Cobra troops.) 7. Using Sigma Six as the basis rather than something more traditional (accelerator suits). 8. Blonde American Baroness who marries a Frenchman. WTF? 9. Unnecessary Duke/Baroness/Cobra Commander connection that they pulled out of their ass for this movie. Also The Whole Reactive Armor, Sigma suits and serious lack of good actors/actresses and individuality ( I dont care if its militarily based the joes all had outfits distinct to them, EVEN in Resolute) really turn me off.

Actually, I don't think it will suck. All the blindly-positive movie proponents have actually swayed my vote with their constant promotion of this film on here!
Wait, no they haven't. |

(You get to see at least half his face the entire film!) By doing so, they only alienate the fans by trying to pull in a larger audience. Why would these unnecessary changes bring in a larger audience? Why would retelling the story in this way bring in more money for them? I can't imagine that it will. my main gripe with the film is the design. It's horrible. Everything has a "fresh new look" to it and it's divorcing the characters from their original source. -Has mankind really learned nothing? When the Lone Ranger dresses like Zorro and has Johnny Depp as his sidekick, -It is no longer the Lone Ranger. -It's Zorro and Johny Depp. When Cobra Commander no longer looks like the icon of Cobra Commander, he is no longer that character. The greatest versions of Cobra Commander all look like the original source. It's familiar. It is an icon. Argue all you want but take a look at these blokes. Batman Spider-man Superman Ironman all have changed outfits. Only to run back into the closet. Sure that Transformers movie did alright, but I can't stand the look of some of these revisions of the characters. Some of them are just too far removed. It breaks my heart that we couldn't see these iconic characters on the screen. Instead, we were watching a monster-robot flick where characters were named after Transformers. They validate themselves by talking about "re-imagining" or "revamping" but it's all bologna to me. To me, it comes across as uninformed and uneducated on the subject. Now, we get a goofy looking Cobra Commander. and if we had to take an In Living Color brother, why did he have to portray an already established ethnic character. It's like having him play Spirit as far as I am concerned. That's why ROC will suck for me. |

Well are they going to wear these accelerator suits through out the movie? I don't think they are. Isn't there a Duke Movie figure with traditional Soldier Uniform? Now CC Head/Face/Mask. Didn't the actor who is playing CC say "that was not what the character I Played looked like"? and Duke, Baroness and CC being linked or friends or whatever. They're doing the same thing TF's did. They made Megs and Prime brothers. I think the mass majority of us will like, it just grew faster on some of us than it did with others.

The general lack of respect for GI Joe as anything but an easy cash in, and taking their inspirations from seemingly everything but GI Joe.

i think if you go in there to see a great action flick and not expect it to be exactly like gi joe of the 80's then you will like it. i have a feeling based on that it will do fine.
