I already heard of this and it's interesting... however beyond a few fantastical things like Serpentor and Snake Eyes being almost super human in his ability to endure pain, I like that the Marvel superheroes were kept apart from the line.
Others around the Joes knew of superheroes, but in a way we ourselves are aware of them, as characters, not real. (A kid seeing Storm Shadow running down the street and he exclaims "Moon Knight!" or Scarlett landing on an actor playing Hulk.) There were a few intrusions into the realm of Superheroes, J Jonah Jameson, Duke being in a Spiderman issue, Transformers, etc...

I'm not sure how it works when it comes to IP. Would it be safe to say that since Disney acquired Marvel comics, they also own the rights to G.I. Joe and Transformers?
It dawned on me when I was reading the article ( yes, I may have been the caboose on a late freight...but I'm still here) That Disney has the ability to make these movies. ( and for all I know they are doing just that) The point is.....well,.....idk. I just woke up and have yet to have my coffee. dang it. Anyhoot! How frigging cool would it be for them to do an October Guard movie? Something real gritty and little more dramatic. Giving us the history of how they come to be. This could lend us a few more movies with a crossover or 2 into G.I. Joe. Sarge, I'm still Jealous of you. |

I think it would be great, and it would definitely, finally give G.I. Joe the edge it needed to compete and be popular again.

I always assumed that since Gi Joe comics came in my monthly deliver with the Marvel stuff that Joes were in the Marvel universe, then Spider man was in a Transformers issue, transformers always interacted with Joe. I have always played with Joes and marvel toys together.

It suggests something I believe, which is that a G.I. Joe live action series like Agents of SHIELD would be rad.

Marvel/Disney has no ownership of G.I. Joe or Transformers whatsoever, and cannot make movies using those characters unless they pay Hasbro for the license to do so...which they have absolutely no reason to do. As for the article...it's amusing speculation (based on knowledge that's been pretty well-known in fan circles for a good while), but we wouldn't be getting "G.I. Joe" as we know and love we'd be getting "Fury Force" which probably wouldn't have had an accompanying toy line or cartoon show because it wouldn't have been a Hasbro creation, and for all we know most of us would never have heard of, so...yeah. Amusing, but not really thinking the premise all the way through. Last edited by Jmacq1; 11-25-2014 at 02:18 PM.. |

Let's not go overboard with the wishful thinking here folks, it only sets people up for disappointment. And six months from now you have people blaming Hasbro and/or Disney for not making a G.I. Joe movie that never existed in the first place anywhere beyond these boards.
