Reviewers know jack-crap about what people actually want to see for a movie.
The movie will do fine. It probably won't be huge, but doesn't matter. I'm more concerned that the kids go and buy tons of RoC toys and create new interest in the Joe franchise and become the next "us".

I have been on the record before stating my suspicions on how I believe the new Joe flick may be bad.
My only reason is because it is given the same August spot for films reserved for the likes of Waterworld.
If it is going to be super good, the film would be around the 4th of July holiday where everyone takes off for the 3 day holiday. The august time slot is not so special.
Look at May. We get the new Star Trek: The Younger Years, Terminator 4, and Wolverine!!!
But in August, just Joe. At the end of the summer do we get this. My analysis based purely on what Hollywood has historically done with crappy movies in the past leads me to be suspicious and scared that the one movie I have wanted to see be made into a live-action show will ultimately suck because as the a-hole in Twister said is "Unrealized"
Take the July 4th week, we get Transformers! Yet in August the put Joe in.
This tells me Paramount or whoever is not banking on this film like they are on Transformers.
You gotta figure the director of the "Mummy" films has did his thing and it is probably not what Joe needed and I fear we will get something like what we got in the 80's when Masters of the Universe was made with Dolf Lundgren. That movie was terrible. Hopefully Joe will be better but I for one will say that without actually seeing the film to be sure, I have to say the film companies are not stupid. They are masters of marketing and if the market this film at the end of summer, based on other films marketed at the end of summer, I know with a 80% certainty that G.I.Joe the Rise of Cobra is going to suck the big one.

My gf has a facebook friend (whose shall remain nameless because I know you fuckers are crazy and would all message her, probing for information) in Phoenix who had a status update within the last week that said she saw the new GI Joe movie and liked it. My gf naturally asked how she saw it and was told she was in a test audience at a theatre in Mesa, and that they didn't know which movie they were seeing until it rolled. They then were to provide feedback and asked what to change. She said she enjoyed it. It gives me a more positive feeling about this movie.

I keep saying.Fan-boys/girls are gonna be the hardest to please due to growing up with it.The General public (none Joe fans) will probably enjoy the No Brainer action film.At the end of the day movies tend to be No Brainers from Hollywood anyway. Tho is still sucks seeing how many slate the concept of a live action & as we`ve grown closer still do,without actually seeing the movie.
It`s just like when the 25th first came out,the tide of backlash to them was silly & slowly most of those who spoke out have adopted them right into the collections they own.
Wait till it comes out then make a review. I`m hoping for something a little like Resolute rather than the 80s Joe.

I like the example of Waterworld, that made me laugh. It's funny because Waterworld was expected to make a ton of money when it was released. It was supposed to be huge and start a new franchise. It just happened to bomb big time.
Little Miss Sunshine.. god, what a horrible movie that is.
The movie will do good. It'll do good with it's target audience, the ones that don't care about test screenings and what reviewers say.
RoC will do good in theaters, it'll make some money and there will be a sequel.
Now rather it does what it's supposed to and sells toys for Hasbro, that will be up in the air.
As far as Hasbro is concerned, RoC's "success" will be defined by how large the Joe brand grows because of it.

Kids will want to see it, so even if it isn't at all what we uber-fans like, it may do well just from that.

i dont really care about the movie. i like the cartoons and the toys.personally i think movies in general suck.all movies that are close 3 hours long(witch i am not a fan of) i cant go 3 hours without a blunt unless i am in the hood at a $1 theater.
if i would have known batman begins or transformers were gonna be as long as they were i would not have gone to see them, same for starwars new hope.
during starwars new hope i took like 2 valumes and a case of beer.
during the darth maul fight scene my friend had to piss, but didnt want to get up. so he started pissing right there on the spot.
the funny thing is that during the fight it would continue on to the story while flasing back and forth from the movie to the fight scene.
so while my friend was pissing it would switch to a quieter part of the movie with diaolog and you could hear ther piss hitting the ground along with beer bottles rolling all the way to the front of the theater.
considering i was with like 7 people and i got board, i went to go play pinball witch eneded up being the best part of the evening

the biggest movies last year were Dark Knight, Iron Man, and Hulk.
I might be wrong on this one, but I think that at least a couple of them were over the top comic book style action movies.
and if the Oscars are an indicator of "good" (which they are not) then you can also throw in Hellboy...on top of the comic book movies that actually did win awards.
whew...with that said, G.I. Joe is gonna suck. It's gonna be Street Fighter the movie part 2.
Punk rock, Horror movies,Hasbro, and MY SENSE OF HUMOR ruined my life.
