No I am not happy, nor do I think the bashing is unjustified. If they are going to do a Joe movie they need to keep it true to its form, a form recognized by all fans. I think Snake Eyes is about the only aspect of that. Examples.... 1980's Punisher and Masters of the Universe. They can modernize it like they did Transformers but not completely change it.

What i'm tired of is people complaining that the movie looks 'cheesy' or 'unrealistic' whilst making exceptions for some early characters who, whilst much loved, were/are also cheesy and unrealistic.
You find fault with the movie based on poor dialogue, the characters moving in gravity defying ways, and a weak plot? Resolute had plenty of that too, yet some hold it up as the Paragon of what G.I.Joe should be whilst slamming the movie for the same faults. I take issue with some of the changes Resolute made as well, but it was a much better translation of ARAH to a modern audience than RoC is going to be.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), both sucked, and quickly died. That's why I'm so frustrated with the movie. It's going to suck, and I'm afraid it will quickly die. That's not what I want for GI Joe, especially when a movie studio is finally throwing millions of dollars at it. Hopefully it will thrive with the kid audience and relaunch the brand, like TF did. Nothing would make me happier. All that being said, this movie is going to suck.

Well I've been bashing it for a long time but I have to say I think the newest trailer made it look better than before. I'm still going to see it, never waivered on that, but I'm pretty dam* sure I'll leave the theater disappointed.
The one thing I do get tired of is people commenting on boards that they shouldn't even open if they can't discuss what the topic is about. Sick of seeing movie bashing threads? Stop looking at them and then posting a reply that has nothing to do with the topic and just bashes the person that started it. No one forced you to check it out, so just don't reply or don't even look at it for that matter. |

I really REALLY did not start this thread to get a rise out of people. I was more so trying to rally the people who do in fact want to see the movie and have something positive to say about it. I did not bash anybody at all, make rude comments, etc in my opening post, nor would I. As a side note, I watched the new trailer yesterday and kinda thought it was just ok. I watched it again late last night once everybody in my house was fast asleep and for some reason, I really enjoyed it. Think my late night "smoke" had something to do with it. |

I just get tired of people making comments on the forums about how they don't like that someone brought an issue up again, or at all. Well don't read it! You'd think they had someone holding a gun to their heads! Also, it irritates me when certain members act like we should all be in the know about all things Joe. Isn't that part of the beauty of HISS? I love coming here and finding out info about Joes and I don't have all day to sit here and read every single thread or surf the net for all the information. That doesn't mean myself or any of us are 100% up to date on all issues. Topics will get rehashed and if you don't have anything to say relating to the topic then don't comment. Don't comment just to say you think it's dumb that the issue was brought up again. Lame. Enjoy your "smoke"! Just don't burn up all your Joe money! |

Cheesy, unrealistic, and all that are fine. It's taking the concept of GI Joe and making it so generic that it's unrecognizable that I have an issue with. Resolute was GI Joe through and through... an adaptation for an older audience, for sure, but it was what the Joe movie should have, and most frustratingly, could have been.
