I'm with Tamman, will give ROC benefit of the doubt. I'm not expecting too much from the movie, it will probably exceed some of our expectations.

1. yes it is the beginning but it will also have deaths like Cover Girl and Storm Shadow and the movie will prolly suck so bad that it will also be the end.
2. Half way thru the movie you will prolly be begging for it to end. 3. The resolute toys have been way better so far and we have seen way less of them. 4. I don't want Humor, I want action. 5. There is no way in hell that you think the movie costums are better than the updated realistic costums of resolute 6. Your insane if you think this movie won't be loaded with bad 1 liners 7. WHAT? have you seen the trailer? 8. Yes the movie Baroness does look hot 9. okay 10. The game will most likely suck |

uhhhh.....
And: Project Manhigh oh, yeah and this too: Bruce Lee 1 inch punch So the realism of stuff that actually excists and is in use is over weighed by super human power suits, nano bugs that eat buildings, mole pods, and undersea battles. Looks like someone needs to get their facts straight I think personally since he apparently came in late in the process you can thank him for whatever they get "right" (like Snake Eyes being mute, apparently he had lines before LH came in as a technical advisor)

now if the movie dose bomb it shows them nothing but that they need to stick with what joe is about like res did. res had both the comic & cartoon rolled up in to one killer show. it keept going and didnt not start it all over agin. some things where changed but not enough for it to do any real harm. joe is a cartoon and should stay that way. like alot of movies coming out that where toons go to live action and they cant do that much with them.
No, I don't agree. If the film fails, so do the toys. Hasbro is a business - it will see an enormous loss in revenue that they invested a huge amount of cash in (considering international toy sales, merchandising ect) and will cut their losses. At the worst, you will see the end of the GI Joe toyline. In general. At the best, you will see a MUCH less ambitious 25th line, with it's resources and ability to be creative SIGNIFICANTLY nuetered. Do you really think Hasbro will say "Oh wait - you guys didn't want the movie? You wanted more Resolute? Oh, if only someone had told us!" THEY KNOW. This movie is not for us. This is to put GI Joe back on the map. TREAT IT AS SUCH. If it makes millions of dollars for Hasbro, do you guys understand what that means? A lot more risks taken with GI Joe. Obscure characters, more focus on what we want because they can afford to be a littel liberal with their choices. It is a means to an end. So long as people get into those seats, that's all I want. That's all we should want. Yes, we should not be made to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find something to be happy about with a live action GI Joe film... but that's the TRUTH of it. Let fanboyism or hatred blind you, but the truth doesn't change. Tom |

This thread is really interesting.....
People here take their toys very seriously. I mean Gi joe has resolute, the 25th and rise of cobra all which are better toys than JVC, valour vs venom gi joe vs cobra and all the other crap that hasbro put out after 1987. I do agree that the 25th and resolute are better than ROC but there are a few gems in there. If you don't like the figures don't buy them. I also agree with that mantra. I am not buying any ROC toys, but think some like SS aren't bad. As far as the movie goes, its Gi joe and there hasn't been anything like it ever made, for me its worth going to see, even though it might suck. My expectations are low, and if it entertains me great. Just like resolute, was it perfect? Not really but it was solid, and the best cartoon ever made for joe. Just like ROC will be the best movie, since its the only one. I am hoping its less street fighter and more batman begins but I am not holding my breath. And yes hasbro, really went the wrong direction with the style of the movie, but that was their decision, based on their marketing department and Stephen sommers etc.... As for the movie bombing and the toys being shelved, that could be a big possibility. I don't think if the movie bombs they will go full steam ahead with resolute, which would be a shame. It really is too bad that they didn't design resolute and have the movie look more like that. That way the cartoon, could be a good teaser that got people excited for the movie. The movie would be an extension, and then they could continue with an ongoing cartoon series. As it stands now they have two separate entities which kind of dilutes the brand.... |

IMO, the bottom line is, despite the various pro/con arguments......Hasbro could have made a kid-friendly MARKETABLE GIJoe film that made the fans happy while still adapting to the times and making new fans. The source material GOT US TO BUY THE DAMN PRODUCT FOR 25 YEARS. Update and repackage it, and you have another 25 years in the bag. If youre investing MILLIONS in this project, you better be damn sure -THE PEOPLE WHO MADE YOUR COMPANY WHAT IT IS TODAY AND CONTINUES TO PUT MONEY IN YOUR BANK- are going to approve and CONTINUE to support your product. Its just piss poor marketing.
Letting Stephen Sommers make the GIJOE movie is like letting a 12 year old drive your Ferarri. |

Tom ill go see it when it is not so new to save cash maybe. your saying that hasbro would do more if they make alot of cash on this your wrong. cuse it also goes by the sales of toys. i know i will not buy 75%of that line. so the movie dose great and the toys fail or movie fails toys do great cuse thats all they will give us.so we have to buy something to feed our plastic creck addiction. hasbro is a toy company not a film company. it is all about the toys man. not the movie. |

I don't think 'better than' is an appropriate classification. But, now that Resolute is over (and really, can only be subject to so many viewings), I'm back to anticipating the movie. I don't have epic expectations out of it, so I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
I don't get the point of hating on it in advance. I'm sure it will have a moment or two that will make everyone smile, even if the overall project isn't to your liking. /two cents.
