I am.. & Im actually glad they waited this long... can u imagine how bad the movie would of been if it had came out 10 years ago.. muahahahaha!!!

I'm going to see it, of course I am...but am I happy they made it? Well, maybe I suppose, but I think they may have made it in a more suitable fashion.
Let me relate it to something else and I'm sure I'm going to get toasted for this. The last 3 Star Wars films were sh**. Glimmers of hope in each, and some cool things here and there, but sh** overall, of course that's MY OPINION! Then they put out Clone Wars and I still don't fully like a lot of the characters (George just couldn't let Jar Jar go could he!), or stories, but I have to say I almost wish they would have made the prequels in this format, animated, then going thru the hub-ub of the live action flicks. That being said, I think SW is MUCH more suited to be made into live action so they could have done that absolutely right, but they, or should I say ol' frosty beard, didn't. Overall it hurt the franchise in my mind. Same goes for the Joe film and I'm kind of from the camp that if the Transformers movie wouldn't have done as well as it did then this movie wouldn't have been made. It feels like some exec figured it was the next obvious move to take a property that has a following and cash in on it. This one feels forced, it feels poorly done, and it feels like a removal (all from not seeing it mind you, I might be singing a different tune after the movie) from what the show/comic etc was originally. I think they should have gone an alternate route, creating an animated film, much like what Marvel and DC are doing with their properties. Either in the theater, direct to blu or dvd, or on HBO (like Spawn was) and given us an adult situation cartoon with real life drama and action. They could have continued to move the story along through installments (weekly, quarterly, yearly based on the format above) and it just would have worked more for the Joe world. Alright all you SW Tankers, have at it..... |

I'm glad they made it. Having Joe opened to a whole new audience is only a good thing for the franchise. I'm not that happy that it's not closer to the stuff I want/remember, but that's okay, I'm still going to support it.

I can't wait to see it! May not be the next Dark Knight or Gone With the Wind (quite a stretch), but I'm sure it will be entertaining.

I'm glad there were people in Hollywood who actually had enough faith in the brand to pull this off, and I'm glad that Hasbro will be taking advantage of it to revitalize the brand.
However I do have my doubts about how the movie will turn out, I wish the costume designer took inspiration from something other than video games, like more inspiration from the comics and combined that influence with more realism from realistic military uniforms. Her primary inspiration was from video games and it's painfully evident. Sure a ninja would look fashionable in a trenchcoat in a game but in a live action movie? I mean sure a ninja could hide small bladed weapons within the folds or underneath the coat but as much as I understand the designs, in a lot of ways they could have been better, keeping a sense of realism but at the same time keeping fans happy. I really wish that the design teams and Hasbro could have had an easier time collaborating as well. If it turns out that Hasbro's suggested changes would have made the vehicles look more toyetic onscreen, then I'm glad the movie designers stepped their foot down and said no. Even taking that into account however, they really should have hired someone with sufficient knowledge of aircraft to revamp the Night Raven for the movie. I do hope for the best, and the SuperBowl trailer surprised me, as it was much different from the rumors online led me to believe. |

I've been a transformer fan for a long time. And all of this stuff is EXACTLY like what happened with that movie two years ago. All of the frustration over the new designs, all of the fear that the toyline wouldn't ever be the same. The rather young classics line (reimaginings of old figures with modern sculpts and techniques, sound familiar?) went away as the movie approached. And the movie was big! I enjoyed it thoroughly. I didn't buy any toys from it mind you, and I don't plan on getting too much from the new movie line either. But look at what happened there. classics came back as Universe, different look, but the same idea: updating old characters. And now Universe is going on hiatus for the second movie, and will more than likely return as the movie hype dies down.
Hopefully that's what happens here, unless the Joe movie and the toyline bomb, in which case we may not be so lucky.
