Ok guys. Reality check. They don't care what we think. They are going to scramble up this gumbo to make Hollywood schlock. We are never going to be happy according to them (nevermind all we want is a quality film that stays true to the original story).

Look at all the changes they made to Transformers. I, being a huge transfan, freaking hating that movie. The average individual loved the crap out of it. They made several changes that bordered on absurd. But they dont care what the geek thinks. They already have our ticket sales. We are a small market segment and they just discard our views or pander.

No one remembers who Ripcord is who watched the cartoon. So they think they can do whatever they want...and they will.

this is all true...they gave us Optimus' original voice and we were supossed to be happy...

I'm a huge Transfan myself and I liked the movie. However I did notice I was waiting more for the GI Joe like army guys to show up more

As for Marlon and Ripcord. I do hate it when they change something so drastic about the characters (I'm having flashbacks of Spawn where they took 2 black men and changed them into a white guy and a white female ) But I really hope they don't change Marlon's character to Stalker because that would be a bigger outrage! Sure Stalker could be Duke childhood friend, but he wouldn't be the buffoon that always did stupid things and wound up getting Duke into trouble (Unless you count extreme torture to get valuble info from a prisoner) The character sounds like comic relief, all the jokes in this movie will be centered around him.

This is quickly becoming a bit "racist." But it's okay if they make Ripcord black. I see no potential wrong in this. I mean they made Bumblebee mute and then British.

it's not racist to be upset that they are changing a history we know and love...would it be racist if I was upset if they made some known minority character white?...absolutely not…I want all the characters to remain true to their known established characters from our past regardless of race...that simple...

i would actually prefer this to the current stupidity...a personality change is a lot less hard to notice for me than a visual change

Well you have an excellent point there I ust don't want this to escalate to something bad. I'd rather have it be accurate to but if they can come up with a really good reason and if he fits the rle that they created, by all means go ahead.

Marlon can act well and he can be serious. Don't assume he will approach this role with the same acting style as he would a comedy like White Chicks or Scary Movie. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I do not, however, like it when they change a character's race. It's like they're hiring actors and then just pulling a GI Joe character name out of a hat to figure out which role to give the newly hired actor.

I really don't care if Ripcord is white or black. A movie is a new continuity. And Marlon Wayans has turned in very solid dramatic and comedic acting performances in the past (no, not in White Chicks, in The Ladykillers). So, really, I don't care. I'm going to go see the movie no matter what, and I want it to be a success, because a successful movie means more of the toy line.
