What direction do you hope the live action movie takes?

Thanks to gi eddie for the idea, but with all the chatter about the direction the live action movie is taking, i am making this poll to see what direction people would like the movie to go in.

By the way does anyone else see a problem with Joseph gordon-levitt becoming cobra commander. I am sorry i just don't see that. If you can help me buy that please speak up!

He's a bit young in my eyes for the part, but considering we'll never see his face I'll just have to wait and see before I make my final call on that.

Here's the problem, from what i understand so far we will see his face because he will start out as duke's friend and mabee a joe and then somehow go evil, that is what has been said about it so far anyway. It seems like the place this movie wil start is at the very formation of joe and cobra based on the very young age of the cast as well as the bits of information being leaked.

New story (although they could borrow from different comic or toon arcs), new history (some re-working or updating of the characters' backgrounds is needed and appreciated), new look (as realistic as possible without missing the essence).

as long as they keep the essence of the mythos, it should be fine.

I don't mind a new story, and I think it NEEDS a new look. Some of those later-year Joe and Cobra duds would just look a little too ridiculous in the real world.

But I'd like the history, the background of who and what the Joes are to remain the same. That's all I ask, but then they couldn't bother to do that with the Transformers.

I think the general concept or essence of the background should be kept, but some details need to be updated or changed. For instance, all the Vietnam stuff won't make sense considering the characters' ages and so on. So, it will probably have to be a more recent war, most probably Irak (especially if the film will be set 10 years in the future, as has been rumored or stated).

I'm ok with that. So Stalker, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow honed their skills in the deserts of Iraq instead of the jungles of Vietnam. The intention remains the same.
