For Larry Hama, it's work...it's what he does for a job. It was also work-for-hire, and as he comes across as very professional, I'd imagine he's -never- really felt much sense of "ownership" over these characters. He knew from the get go they'd always belong to Hasbro and resigned himself to that fact. It wasn't so much a "labor of love" as "getting a steady paycheck." Now I don't get the impression he's "down" on G.I. Joe as some people have said they get from his interviews. He's just matter-of-fact about it. If he really "hated" G.I. Joe or was tired of it, he's more than proven that he can get work in the comic industry without writing G.I. Joe. He just doesn't take it as seriously as some of us do. Or more accurately he takes it serious from a professional perspective, not a fan-perspective. |

Yes indeedy. As I said on another site: For us, G.I. Joe is a hobby...something we do for fun.

"Great" is purely subjective.
There isn't a movie on Earth (not that I know of anyway) that doesn't have someone that dislikes it. Just as there's always at least one fan of just about any movie. Even if it's one of the people that worked on it. |

*shrugs*
I don't think Dixon's a stooge, but let's face it, he's not gonna trash the movie, is he? Also, there were otherwise reasonable people in the comics industry saying that Schumaker's "Batman and Robin" was a good movie. While I'm sure the haters and apologists alike have already both made up their respective minds, the only way to know for sure is to wait and see. |

i hate when people knock the joe cartoon for being different from the comics when it was still by far the greatest toon of the 80s and possibly ever.
