I just took my nine year old daughter to see Retaliation and we both enjoyed it a lot. She is now more excited to go with me to Joecon and I am happy that GiJoe is back in action. Really looking forward to see what happens going ahead.

Cobra Commander is the most successful when he is the "mastermind". When he is able to accomplish his objectives without having to lift a finger, by tricking or warping others to accomplish what HE wants without having to get his own hands too dirty. In that respect, the film Cobra Commander was ALL of that. He had successfully replaced the President with his own agent (and by extension, got people loyal to him in key military positions, including becoming a primary special forces for the US government). He had successfully gotten the people and resources together for Zeus. He had agents in place for his escape. And he didn't even need to give an order.

Actually, most of his "accomplishments" you note were the result of political machinations on his part, NOT by him taking up arms or being overly public.

Did he NEED to appear more than one page per comic? Cobra Commander I think works best in the "less is more" approach. If his plans are running smoothly, do we need to be reminded he is back there pulling the strings?

My opinion on Rise of Cobra was that it was all together an average but solid action movie. As a whole Retaliation was probably better if we look at the movies completely separate. But i like both equally. The first one was more of an over the top superhero movie and Retaliation was more over the tope hardcore 80's action movie. Retaliation did feel and look like more a G.I. Joe movie. But no matter how many times I obese over this one little thing it is the deciding factor on my thoughts on the movies. Duke is the deciding factor. The thing is i want the live action series to keep going and going. But with Duke dead there goes my favorite character. I would be more accepting of Duke's death if it was later in the series. I mean just think about it in the beginning of the first movie he joins G.I. Joe and is only a solider on the team under Heavy Duty command then in the second movie he is all of a sudden the Leader of G.I. Joe and is killed twenty minutes in. So if Dukes death was lets say in the fourth movie then i would just say okay he had his run but to see him join in the first only to be leader for twenty minutes and killed in the second i just fell Duke didn't have enough time being a leader of some sorts in G.I. Joe
