Not only that. He seemed like he was actually having fun and INTO the role in this movie. He seemed bored throughout ROC and even said something about not being able to take it seriously.

I think I would have liked this one reguardless. The first one was a train wreck of super suits, bad direction (as evidenced by contrasting Tatum's Performance between the 2 movies) and worthless attempts at humor.

I would still have liked Retaliation as it exists, even if RoC never existed.
To me, I feel Retaliation is fun in a "Transformers" or "Paul Anderson" sort of way: the films are generally some degree of bad, but you can't help but have a fun time.

I would have liked it just as much. I enjoyed watching both, but I liked Retaliation more.
Seeing Roadblock, Storm Shadow and Cobra Commander up on the big screen was almost like watching somebody that I actually knew in a movie. I can understand wanting a movie to be as good as possible. But sometimes a movie can be fun without being good. For every blu ray that I own like "The Departed", "Pulp Fiction" or "There Will Be Blood", I have probably five more like "Tango & Cash", "Predator 2", and "The Transporter 3". I think Retaliation falls in with the second group. Much better that than to end up with a movie like "The Amazing Spider-Man". Something that just took a couple characters that I really loved as a kid, and just made them un-likable. That's one that I'll never watch again. |

RoC is one of the worst movies ever made. I put it right up there with Battlefield Earth, Jonah Hex, and Batman & Robin. Retaliation was at least better than the Bayformers Trilogy.

I thought Retaliation had better vehicles. That was it. Both movies felt flat as pancakes otherwise, no plots, no real acting, no tension, nothing.

It's a live action version of something that should never have been live action in the first place, ROC and Ret. But that being said, I hated ROC at first, then got to like certain parts of it. Ret was better but far from a blockbuster.

my loathing of roc did nothing to make me like retaliation- it was better than roc, but still real, real bad.

some people will never be pleased. Lower your expectations a little.
