Peyton Reed would be great. The Ant Man movies feel very GIJoe-ish to me. Plus, his Mandalorian episodes were both top notch.

I think it depends on what you're really going for:
For an 80's period piece? The Duffer Brothers (Stranger Things) have shown an affinity for the time period and juggling a large cast and fantastic elements in their show. Get them a seasoned action choreographer and I bet they could do a pretty good job. For a modernization? The Russos would be great though may be too "big" now for GI Joe. They certainly have the chops for it though. Peyton Reed is an interesting choice and I think would do well with the "cheesier" aspects of GI Joe (and I will defend the idea that Joe needs to be a little cheesy to actually be GI Joe, otherwise it's just "generic military action"). So would James Gunn, I think, though perhaps a little TOO much on the cheesy there. |

We need someone who can bring real dark grit to it. Show the horrors of war and that people die. We don't want some Childrens take on it or someone who is not knowledgeable or a fan of the brand. the target audience is us in our late 40's now collectors from the 80's not kids.
Jon Favreau is a die hard fan of Star Wars films, comics, books you name it so his series on Disney have been outstanding. The Easter egg nods to things only fans spot. That is what we need. I don't really know enough about directors but please can I be an extra or something in the background. That would be awesome beyond awesome on the planet awesome in an awesome competition. |

I'm not saying it would be a good idea, but a Quentin Tarantino G.I. Joe movie would be really interesting.
