Yeah I know it's rough man. If you can try watching GI Joe The Movie, or Resolute. I know they're cartoons, but for me you can never really outgrow a classic, and Resolute brings that modern mix with a touch of old school rough house in it. Actually, right about now another Resolute movie or variation there of might help the face of GI Joe, as well as carry some time in between Retaliation and the 3rd installment. Just my opinion though, but yeah it's rough being a Tanker nowadays lol ;)

that movie was freaking TERRIBLE. It really bummed me out. But you know what cheers me up? Seeing other fans on here also thought it was crap. Seriously, I was bummed because I couldn't understand how it did so well and was considered a success. It's not only not true to the source material, it's also just a bad movie. Production money was not spend correctly and it was terribly written and acted. So I agree with you.
The good to come out of it, is that since it was a "success" it means we'll probably get some more toys. If Hasbro can get their head out of their XXX and form a solid marketing plan. And maybe get product on shelves when their properties are in theaters of on TV (renegades). And LOL, yeah The RZA was terrible in it. LAUGHABLE, which is a shame. I was excited about that figure before I saw it. Now I don't want it. |

Lol, Might be beating a dead horse, but i understand what you mean. All that source material , experts on Joe Lore and it was all thrown out the window. Im frustrated but at the same time ,I would really like to know what influence the Studio Heads had on this movie and what pressures they put on the producers and directors.

I still think the movies should have been treated much like the Dark Knight and Lord of the rings as a Trilogy . And unlike The Dark Knight DON'T KILL OFF HALF OF THE CHARACTERS,LOL. But I think 3 movies tied together in which the TerrorDromes are sold to developing countries.... 2nd movie we find out it was a cobra scheme.. Introduce zOMBIE vIPERS, Introduce Cobra Island. 3 movie the fall of the TerrorDromes Big Battle the end of Cobra Island? but as the smoke over the island clears we see a figure coming out of the shadows. As Cobra Commander pulls up stakes and runs off leaving men and equipment behind to rot,we see a Fifure Rising from under the inactive Volcano....Serpentor!!!! Next 3 movies the Rise of Serpentor part 2 CIVIL WAR, Part 3 Rebirth of COBRA...BLAMM 6 MOVIES RIGHT THERE.

I just finished seeing it retaliation at 7:39am. I just rented it via netflix along with Olympus has fallen and a good day to die hard. Bad part is I saw it after Olympus has fallen and that was a better joe movie than retaliation was. The movie could have just as easily been called The adventures of Agent Hobbs featuring John Mcclaine and GI Joe.
I avoided reading all the bitching and bad ideas that were being tossed around cause I didn't want to be influenced by them. I have to say. It really was as bad as you guys said it was. So we are just going to pretend hawk, breaker, scarlet, ripcord and heavy duty never existed? Or where they reassigned to the respective countries? regarding the treatment of Storm shadow. Why even bother wearing a mask if everyone already knows who he is? If the whole thing was about killing Zartan, why didn't he just kill him in the first movie? he had plenty of chances. Hell, He could have told snake eyes the plan a long time ago and just say lets get some revenge. Is everyone in the movie left handed? it sure seems that way. While it looked good. The ninja scene was so impractical. How on Earth could they have secured so much rope to swing all the way around like that? The same way the movie Clerks mentioned a lot of those men that died on the death star were independent contractors just building stuff, I feel the same way about the red ninjas and secret service that got killed left and right in this movie. Those Red ninjas were defending their home. Some of those secret service agents that colton killed could have just been the ones assigned to fake president zartan and not necessarily involved on evil plot. i'm just saying..... Who were those old guys on the bridge during the zeus attack supposed to be? Where the hell did they come from? I have nothing good or bad to say about the rza. That just blank....... Firefly was actually the one thing I have nothing bad to talk about. There is a lot more I want to say but i'm sure it's been said in the other 50 pages. All I can say is DAMN!!!!!!! :( |

They seriously should have started over and just said hey the first movie was garbage lets reboot the franchise and do this right. It just pisses me off that after all these years of waiting for a live action GI JOE movie they just completely destroyed it.
Hollywood and Hasbro are brain dead. |

I am not a fan of Dwayne Johnson but I thought he was good in this film and damn massive.
I liked this one better than the first one as that had way too much CGI in it, although I did love the Baroness character in the first one. |

Retaliation sucked but the biggest problem I had with it is that NOTHING about the Joes screamed "G.I. Joe" whatsoever. They were just guys in uniforms who were completely interchangeable. Plus, only three of them were in the film? I mean, come on.
Also, Bruce Willis was so horribly miscast that I can't even go there.

Pretty much sums it up.
But to add to it...the movie was like one big, discombobulated music video. The editing was bad. The whole Blind Master scene was sporadic. Bruce Willis seemed uninterested and the whole Brenda thing seemed like some inside joke that never got an explanation. Even the Snake-Eyes prison scene where it is revealed that it is Storm-Shadow didn't make a whole lot of sense. When Walt Goggins, a normally good actor, finds out who it is, he doesn't seem too surprised. He actually acts as if they knew Storm-Shadow was alive the whole time. Very odd. I wasn't and have never been concerned about G.I. Joe reflecting the comics or the cartoons, but be interesting. I bought a used extended cut BluRay and watched it once all the way through. Tried to play it a few more times since then and I choose to skip right to the prison breakout scene. Ray Stevenson seemed to be having a good time with his role and Bruce Willis would have a good performance one moment, kinda sleepy the next. I couldn't care less about Duke getting killed. Channing Tatum was bad casting, anyway. I wish he would change his name because when I hear it, I think about Stockard Channing and Tatum O'Neil every time. The too-close fight editing and short running time (even in extended cut form) hurts the movie. It seems like Cobra Commander was an afterthought and added in at the last minute. With all that said, I still like it. Dwayne is a lot of fun to watch, in the same spirit as Vin Diesel was in "Chronicles Of Riddick." The big ninja battle was well done and the woman that played lady Jaye was beautiful. |
