My favorite action figure would have to be Heavy Duty. He is the only Joe to survive my child hood play days. He doesn't have any of his weapons or ect. But I still have him & surprisingly his joint rubberband connecting the legs to the body hasn't gotten old or snapped yet. I had some guys in good condition, but their rubber band just snapped cause it was old. So the Joes would just break due to old age. But Heavy Duty survived some how. I still have him in my room's closet too. Many years ago when I put away all my child hood toys I some how left out Heavy Duty & some Z-Bots (look up Z-Bots). Those few have sat in my closet ever since, just living on their days I guess. When I think back to my Joe toys, I don't know if I really had every body or a whole lot. But I know I had alot of vehicles. I had some Cobra troops that were kinda neat. I had the Indian tracker & Snow Job, plus some others I never really attached myself too.
BUT, I remember Heavy Duty & I did play with that toy alot. I remembered it was neat that I being a NY kid, I wore my hat backwards alot, & so did the Heavy Duty toy with his lime green hat. I also remember playing with his neat Cannon launcher thing. He had it strapped to his belt line. It shot some missles, that was cool. Heavy Duty was the only real Joe action figure I really put any time into, & Heavy Duty is the only Joe toy I have any child hood memory attached too. & Also Heavy Duty is the only Joe toy I still have, so the character means alot to me.
I'm so glad he was casted in the new live action movie. I was concerned when the Waynes Brother rumor broke out, but this guy they casted with the long name (sorry I'm not sure who the actor is), the actor looks exactly like the action fiure. I mean dead on too. The hair, the mostache & goatee facial hair. Even the facial features, they look like twins. I love it.
I read on here about some Roadblock over Heavy Duty comments & read that Hasbro was going to listen to the fans. Well as a fan myself, I thought I'd throw in my opinion. & Yes Roadblock was in the cartoon, but this movie is also about the toyline & other areas too. I believe Heavy Duty was an important toy, & its the only character toy-in to the movie I'd care about. So if Hasbro is listening I hope they decide to keep the African American actor's character named Heavy Duty in the movie for fans like me. I loved that toy.
It would mean alot to me if Heavy Duty was in G.I. Joe's live action adaption movie.
& If Hasbro is hearing me, a shout out to my cousin, the only cartoon character he remembers is Gung Ho. & Gung Ho was is favorite too. I haven't heard anything about Gung Ho yet.
Anyways the movie is already listed as including Heavy Duty. So please keep it that way. & If they can fit Gung Ho in, please do or at least for my cousin put Gung Ho in the hopeful 2nd movie.
Yo Hasbro Joe, Give my boy (Heavy Duty) the trademark backwards hat to wear in the movie. It don't have to be green, just so long as it's a backwards baseball cap.
P.S. Here is a pic of the Heavy Duty toy I was talking about.
