Unfortunately, it's not a shipwreck character in that scene...more like someone "else" (hint hint) which i think he may be...

The Rock bailed because of scheduling conflicts. And the scene he'd have been in was a "driving scene" which i thought was weird to begin with.

I think it's because Shipwreck is minor and almost hidden. The film centers around the beginnings of the core of the team.
So, there could be actors stuck in there that turn up later as full fledged joes. Like the capt of the sub. There's definite eluding to characters to come. Roadblock etc... |

To me, the way the movie reads in pace and action and characterization was like Joss Whedon's SERENITY.
Serenity is very similar in overall structure and time given to each character bad guys and good guys. If you have not seen Serenity (the movie based on the tv show FIREFLY) check it out to get the feel for how the GI JOE movie will flow. |

dyou think they will use unknown actors in the roles and in the possible sequels recast them with slightly bigger "names"? Ala Kitty Pride in the 3 X-Men movies

But Common may do a sequel as ROADBLOCK. Since he was interested in the first movie, but was already committed to T4-Salvation. If a sequel happens, based on performance at the box office, I could def see unknowns being used, and even bumped up to larger roles, as well as casting larger roles with bigger actors the second time around in a sequel. Sommers has good relationships with a lot of really cool character actors to flesh out as JOES if a sequel happens. |
