Nuke The Fridge just scroll down until you see Snake Eyes... maybe take it with a pinch of salt. |

Man... I hope it is better than that. It really sucks that Hasbro went the route they did. WHY o WHY didn't Larry Hamma write the damn script for this? Or at least someone who WAS a GI Joe fan.
Just like with Transformers having someone who knows dick about the saga is a really stupid move.

because Larry Hama's comic writing is barely better than laughable, and it certainly doesn't reveal an ability to write a screenplay. the best writing Hama ever did was on the filecards, and again, that doesn't qualify him to write a screenplay. I know from the casual observer all writing must be the same, but I assure you, it isn't.

I am still reserving judgement untill I see the trailer for myself.Although if......if this description is accurate,it sounds rather campy. I will see the movie no matter the trailers they release and give my final thoughts afterwards.

Yep, unlike others, I don't let outside things influence my choices and don't pass judgement until I've seen the finished product with my own eyes.

And there's a reason that the writers of the novels don't write the screenplays of the movie adaptions (all the time, it's happened, but not that often). League of Extradinary Gentlemen is a perfect example of the differences in translating different medium. The comic book, written by Alan Moore, was great. The movie, screenplay by James Robinson, was entertaining but nothing like the comic book. Now the kicker is that James Robinson is a pretty good comic book writer himself (he's the current Superman writer, but his best stuff was in the past, Starman). So why the huge differences between comic and movie? All the other things that go into making a movie and all the other outside influences.

But he could have at least played a role in the development. Getting a bunch of guys who know dick about GI Joe or Transformers to write a screenplay when Im certain there is at least one great Screenwriter out there who is a GI Joe Fan is a poor idea. Granted I haven't really reviewed Hamma's writing since the 80's and I love all the comics he wrote but again I was a kid so you could be right. Still who knows more about GI Joe than Larry Hamma? I actually wrote a GI Joe screenplay awhile back and while I knew I had no shot of getting it into production I wish they had gone with something similar. My idea was to revisit the Joes a few years after the last issue of the comic. The team had been disbanded and everyone thought CC and Billy were dead. Billy then takes on his fathers legacy and becomes CC himself. Anyway, Maybe I should post a link to my version on here some time not that it would get made but I'd like to see what everyones opinion is.

We see a couple of terrorist attacks, some G.I. Joe guys dressed like Snake Eyes jumping out of a plane,
This movie is going to Blow......even this guy who saw the trailer thinks so. You movie lovers are going to be soooo pissed off. This movie isnt going to help Joe its going to bury it........sad really. For all the movie Defenders.......this bowl of crap is why you stick to the source and not change things. When you try and modernize stuff you sometimes make it worst. Looks Resolute is going to be the only saving Grace. And Before someone says well you havent seen both.....Well Everything seen about the movie has been a stinker....Every little Screen shot about Resolute has rocked.....well Except pilot Destro and Samuri SS........ |

And it's HAMA, not Hamma. And, I believe, it's been said a couple of times that Hama was a creative consultant on the movie.
