Note that the title of the movie makes ZERO reference to America.

"GI Joe: Rise of Cobra?"

Not "GI Joe: A Real American Hero."

Not good for those of us who love "A Real American Hero."
what is that that you love about "GI Joe: A Real American Hero" that cannot exists if the "A Real American Hero" isn't part of the title?

I assume you aren't interested in Resolute because it isn't titled "A Real American Hero?" if that isn't the case, and you are interested in the Resolute cartoon, than you can't assert that the "A Real American Hero" is a vital part of your interest.

Transformers was an ok movie.. it was cool how they used the original Optimus Prime voice & most of the original characters.. could of been way better.. I didnt like how most of them looked.. like Megatron & Starscream for example... But think of all the different characters in GI Joe.. & the potential.. they should just make a triology.. in 3 movies they could really get across the story in depth.. imagine all the different twists & all the troopers.. & all the different Joes.. it could be really great.. Star Wars level

How did Megs and Star look different than the American animation?

Are you serious? They were completely different. In the cartoon they were 'blocky' showing easily identifiable parts from their alternate versions. The live action move departed from that immensly with ALL of the characters. They looked more bio-technological with thousands of moving parts as opposed ot the few the toon sported.

I like the move, don;t get me wrong, but aside from the names of the characters and Primes voice, this was a HUGE departure from the animated series.

Oh, I was comparing just the 80's animation only.
Didn't like either movie actually.

it may not have been great by your opinion, and personally it was just "okay" by mine, but it made a serious amount of money. if just for that and the fact that there WILL be a trilogy of movies, I think it has lived up to whatever potential there is.

American Animation? where did you get that from?

Sunbow was an american company yes, but Its animation was initially produced by the Japanese animation studio Toei, supplemented by the South Korean animation studio AKOM later on.

Thats for both Transformers AND Gi Joe By the way.

Me, I see a trilogy coming out of this. I am still cautiously optimistic about the Movie, I have seen things I like, and things I dont like, but even the most successful comic book movies change things.
