Let's look at what we have so far:
The movie has been PC'ed to death. G.I.Joe is no longer "A Real American Hero". It's more of a NATO team. Cover Girl is German, Breaker is Isreali, Heavy-Duty is African, and there's rumors of Snake-Eyes being FRENCH?!
Argument - But G.I.Joe has to appeal to a world audience!
Question - Doesn't it already? Aren't there people from all over the world on this board? If G.I.Joe doesn't have a world appeal, why call the movie G.I.Joe? So Hasbro can make more money? A bad movie is a bad movie no matter what you call it and could cause Hasbro to loose money instead. Movies that stay true to the source material are usually more successful.
The black body suits - Those were fine for X-Men. It's even fine for Snake-Eyes, but Joes need to be in fatigues, or if they're undercover, clothes native to the region, like on The Unit. I would rather have all the Joes in matching fatigues looking exactly alike rather than the black body suit.
Argument - That's only one of their uniforms!
Answer - Yeah, but it's the one they'll wear in the movie's climactic battle which will be the most prominent uniform.
Argument - And Sci-Fi is a big part of the Joe 'verse!
Answer - Yeah, but not the biggest part. G.I.Joe is first and foremost a US military special forces team.
Marlon Wayans as Ripcord.
Argument - Why is that a problem?
Answer - Marlon Wayans can't act serious. Therefore we know he's there for flavor (the sassy street black guy) and comedic relief.
Also, Ripcord is a white character.
Argument - Are you racist?
Answer - No. I wouldn't like it if they made Roadblock white or made Spirit Chinese. They should have just replaced "Ripcord" everywhere it appeared with "Stalker." I still wouldn't like that either, because, like I said, Marlon Wayans can't act serious. They should have called him "Cool-Breeze" 'cause that's what I think of when I see Marlon Wayans. Then kill him off just like Hama did.
Joseph Gordon Leavitt as Cobra Commander
Argument - Leavitt is grown now and can act! It's been over 10 years since 3rd Rock!
Answer - I don't care if he can act or not. He's just too young looking to play Cobra Commander.
Cobra Commander's name is Rex?!
Rex? What the hell?! Is he a dog?!
Rex was Duke's best friend?!
Why do the origins of the bad guy have to be tied to the good guy? This isn't Professor X and Magneto!
The Baroness was engaged to Duke?!
So Duke, the All-American Boy Scout, was engaged to an Eastern European Facist bent on destroying the the Capitalist West? Yeah right! Again, why do the origins of the bad guy have to be tied to the good guy? So Duke's best friend and girlfriend run off and start/join Cobra? What kind of people is Duke hanging out with?
Destro pulling the strings to create (or already created) Cobra.
Uh...Cobra Commander created Cobra. That's why he's...Cobra Commander! If Desro is in charge, why would he bring in somebody to be over him? This only works if Destro brings Rex in to be a follower, and Rex turns out to be a much stronger personality than Destro can deal with and leaves and takes half of Destro's forces with him to create Cobra. But then that leaves CC and Destro as enemies.
If Destro is in charge, shouldn't we have Iron Grenadiers, not NEO Vipers?
Brendon Fraiser's over acting goofy @$$ will show up? Great!
The only thing I like so far is Dennis Quaid playing Hawk, Ray Park playing Snake-Eyes, and Hama influencing it some.
*sigh* I know. I know. This is G.I.Joe for this generation. Just like A Real American Hero was for our generation and different from the Joe of our parents generation.
It's still going to suck! lol

then again...."how many this movie is gonna rock" threads do we need? we get it, you like it.
please find one of the other dozen threads that is either for, or against the movie, and state you opinion there.
oh, and technically...you would be a nay sayer.
since you are saying NAY(=NO) to this movie, those that give a NEGATIVE opinon on something would be the NAY sayers. thats why its NAY or YAY. you are saying NAY. Does that mean you are Tired of yourself?
But hey, I am sure that is more symantics to be ingnored, like the fact that the movie hasnt come out yet...right?

Sab | I honestly want to be optimistic as well, but with all the stuff listed above, I just have a bad feeling. I figure if I expect the worse and if it's halfway decent, I can be pleasantly surprised. If it rocks, I can be blown away. |

Lots of editing and more filming/tweeks to be added to the film.

Isn't it a little ironic that the title is "tired of the naysayers" and the thread is nothing but naysaying?
Waste of board space.
