But I think this movie is going to suck too!
Let's look at what we have so far: The movie has been PC'ed to death. G.I.Joe is no longer "A Real American Hero". It's more of a NATO team. Cover Girl is German, Breaker is Isreali, Heavy-Duty is African, and there's rumors of Snake-Eyes being FRENCH?! Argument - But G.I.Joe has to appeal to a world audience! Question - Doesn't it already? Aren't there people from all over the world on this board? If G.I.Joe doesn't have a world appeal, why call the movie G.I.Joe? So Hasbro can make more money? A bad movie is a bad movie no matter what you call it and could cause Hasbro to loose money instead. Movies that stay true to the source material are usually more successful. The black body suits - Those were fine for X-Men. It's even fine for Snake-Eyes, but Joes need to be in fatigues, or if they're undercover, clothes native to the region, like on The Unit. I would rather have all the Joes in matching fatigues looking exactly alike rather than the black body suit. Argument - That's only one of their uniforms! Answer - Yeah, but it's the one they'll wear in the movie's climactic battle which will be the most prominent uniform. Argument - And Sci-Fi is a big part of the Joe 'verse! Answer - Yeah, but not the biggest part. G.I.Joe is first and foremost a US military special forces team. Marlon Wayans as Ripcord. Argument - Why is that a problem? Answer - Marlon Wayans can't act serious. Therefore we know he's there for flavor (the sassy street black guy) and comedic relief. Also, Ripcord is a white character. Argument - Are you racist? Answer - No. I wouldn't like it if they made Roadblock white or made Spirit Chinese. They should have just replaced "Ripcord" everywhere it appeared with "Stalker." I still wouldn't like that either, because, like I said, Marlon Wayans can't act serious. They should have called him "Cool-Breeze" 'cause that's what I think of when I see Marlon Wayans. Then kill him off just like Hama did. Joseph Gordon Leavitt as Cobra Commander Argument - Leavitt is grown now and can act! It's been over 10 years since 3rd Rock! Answer - I don't care if he can act or not. He's just too young looking to play Cobra Commander. Cobra Commander's name is Rex?! Rex? What the hell?! Is he a dog?! Rex was Duke's best friend?! Why do the origins of the bad guy have to be tied to the good guy? This isn't Professor X and Magneto! The Baroness was engaged to Duke?! So Duke, the All-American Boy Scout, was engaged to an Eastern European Facist bent on destroying the the Capitalist West? Yeah right! Again, why do the origins of the bad guy have to be tied to the good guy? So Duke's best friend and girlfriend run off and start/join Cobra? What kind of people is Duke hanging out with? Destro pulling the strings to create (or already created) Cobra. Uh...Cobra Commander created Cobra. That's why he's...Cobra Commander! If Desro is in charge, why would he bring in somebody to be over him? This only works if Destro brings Rex in to be a follower, and Rex turns out to be a much stronger personality than Destro can deal with and leaves and takes half of Destro's forces with him to create Cobra. But then that leaves CC and Destro as enemies. If Destro is in charge, shouldn't we have Iron Grenadiers, not NEO Vipers? Brendon Fraiser's over acting goofy @$$ will show up? Great! The only thing I like so far is Dennis Quaid playing Hawk, Ray Park playing Snake-Eyes, and Hama influencing it some. *sigh* I know. I know. This is G.I.Joe for this generation. Just like A Real American Hero was for our generation and different from the Joe of our parents generation. It's still going to suck! lol

Just like A Real American Hero was for our generation and different from the Joe of our parents generation. It's still going to suck! lol I will do my best here. I am in a rush to excuse any misspelled words, grammar, etc. A Real American Hero - As far as I know Ripcord and Duke are Americans and they are Joe's so those two are Real American Heroes. Deal with just having two and stop being silly! Anyway, the movie is set in the future and who would Rather not have a future with all countries coming together and fighting terrorism. Source Material - Spider-man 1,2 and 3 as well as Iron Man and The Dark Knight have all taken major liberties in telling there stories with household icons, as GI JOE is not! They have tweaked, changed added and taken away from the source material since the Wizard of Oz in 1939 all the way to the Dark Knight. So you are wrong there! Uniforms and Nationality- Seriously, I am not a fan of those black suits either but if you collect the 25th line and you stand your figures together.... really? come on, how silly would they look running around in that! The black suits are fine for what they are. And GI JOE has always had a history of evolving. Hell it took two years before they introduced a Black Character into the team. I'm sure at that time people were appalled at that notion at that as well! America is about multicultural people coming together. Yeah, lets not pass that along to our kids. So 45 years later we have evolved into a multinational team. After all this is still one Planet! Unless you truly are racist and hate everyone! You introduced the race card and now I am questioning it? Marlon Wayans as Ripcord. Requiem for a Dream - go watch this film. If you say he cannot act then you don't know FRACK about film! As far as his color, whatever! I would rather turn one insignificant comic relief character black then turn a serious character like Stalker into a buffoon. Joseph Gordon Leavitt as Cobra Commander As far as him being to young, you are so right! If you are going by comic history, EVERYONE IS TOO YOUNG. they all should be in their late fifties if you consider that most of them were in service during the Vietnam War, per the comics! Now, do you see how silly it would be to see a bunch of men around 58 years of age making up our GI JOE team. So the producers and director are going with a younger cast, it is what it is. You argument there is beyond silly. Cobra Commander's name is Rex?! Yes, he is a DOG! Rex was Duke's best friend?! You asked "Why do the origins of the bad guy have to be tied to the good guy? This isn't Professor X and Magneto!" yes you are right, this is nothing like a comic book! This is real life. Its not like Duke and Cobra Commander have not been engaging in war with each other for years like they do in other comics! Nothing like that, not at all! The Baroness was engaged to Duke?! Duke was never engaged to the Baroness, he was engaged to the person she was prior to being the baroness. So again no point here! Destro - Running Cobra is not the case. When you see the movie you will understand! Iron Grenadiers and Neo Vipers are really insignificant as their are so many different factions inside Cobra. They had to pick a few and they did! Brendon Fraiser's - We don't know what extent he is in this film so an argument either way is pointless. Now as far as the movie sucking, it could very well happen? I am not one of those guys who defend the film to the bitter end since I have not seen it! I just don't see how anyone could condemn the film without seeing one piece of footage let alone the film. But whatever, it just shows the rest of us that you have no idea what you are talking about! |

I wonder if all the people who say, "Here we go again!" are just as annoying as those who criticize a movie they haven't seen yet? Pots and kettles...
