Nobody wants to go see a bunch of old farts jumping around in camo trying to be cool.
It's got to be young, hip and slick. We (People who bought GI Joes when then came out in 1984 off the shelves as kids) know that you can't base it around Vietnam Vets and old chessy ninja stories. It has to be real...real danger, real characters. New & fresh too so that the 12 years old go to see it and buy the toys and mature enough for the 30somehtings too. That's why the actors can't be too old and can't be fresh outta high school. They have to have experience but still be learning on the fly. |

Yes, but that's what get the 20 years olds in to the seats. And they buy a lot of tickets remember.

Yeah I hope it's not all "In your face to the X-treme" with guys jumping out of airplanes on camo snowboards shouting "Yooooo Joe!" or "Full Force!"
GI Joe can be gritty and dramatic as well as full of action and suspense, and hopefully with the writer they have, it will be all that. I just hope I'm not investing too much into this... GI Joe has been my all time favorite, with Transformers being second. And I absolutely hated the story for the Transformers movie. I just don't want to be expect something cool and be disappointed.

Appreciated, but nothing is ever going to make me believe that Megan Fox or Rachel McAdams, easy on the eyes though they may be, have the level of intelligence, sophistication, experience, or lethal ability necessary to pull off Baroness or Scarlet, respectively. While the cast certainly can't be full of 40-50 year olds, there has to be SOME experience on the team. I can see there being a rookie or two, but I think most need to be closer to 30 than 20. I think if one or two of the core members (esp Duke and/or Stalker- Wesley Snipes could still do it, though he'll be on trial, sadly) are older, I could find a younger, say, Flint or Roadblock or LJ easier to swallow. But please, please, if God or Hasbro is listening...not James Franco as Flint. Please.

Yeah, there's a lot of screwy rumors floating around about this movie already. For example, my local comic book guy in the valley told me that it was going to be based on Sigma Six.
I have no idea where the hell he read that, and I didn't bother to correct him. He'll find out soon enough. -PJ |

I bet it is closer to Sigma Six than 1984 RAH. I think they need a younger cast to attract an audience. Wesley Snipes and Ray Park aren't going to fill seats. Attractive stars with credible abilities will.
Rachel McAdams isn't that young and neither is James Franco. Ben Browder is in his 40's. So there is your experience. He'd be the perfect Duke. Don't think of it as 1984...because the world is different now, the military is different now, It's more like Sigma Six because of the Special Ops and smaller mission groups. So look for the movie to follow that formula than the cartoon from the 80's. I loved the cartoon too, but the movie has to be more substantial and more gritty then that. |

What I am concerned about is that the tent date for transformers 2 in in June 2009 and if GI JOE is also released that year, when? They would not put two movies (paramount) against each other would they?
