O.k. so I'm one of the guys who indeed thinks "this movie will suck".
However one common misconception I think a lot of you have about Guys or Gals like me who think the movie will "suck" is that we want it to be as faithful as possible to the 80's cartoon or comics. At least I can speak for Myself when I say that this is not the case either. I know a movie that would be a straight adaptation of the old cartoon would be silly, and unrealistic. That's obvious. Even the old Looney Tunes from the 1930's had more to offer adults than the GI.Joe toons from the 80's did. So then You might ask "What is it You DO want?". Well I can only say for Myself, and I think other "Haters" might agree with me. What I would like to see is an updated GI.Joe with things incorporated from the old Joes that still seem cool to all of us today. Like Dreamwave did with the GI.Joe/Transformers crossover set in WWII, or the way it appears they are doing with the new 'Resolute' cartoon seen here I'd like to see something like that with live actors for the movie. Not lasers, and parachutes. To qutoe John Ney Rieber the writer of the GI.Joe/Transformers crossover I spoke of earlier. "It can be a little sad to return to these pieces of our past. Like traveling back to your hometown only to discover that the kid who was your best friend in second grade still hasen't learned to tie his own shoes.... There may be things about that kid that you woulden't change for anything. This is our attempt to reach back, and drag a few friends from the strange, and simple world we once shared with them into the strange, and complex world we live, and dream in today." I don't know about you guys, but that is what I would like to see done with the GI.Joe movie |

I agree. I'd like more special ops modern military and less sci-fi. Something like "The Unit." Update it for general audiences but don't turn it into "Halo" — I loved GI Joe best when it stuck to its military roots.
I think the biggest problem most "haters" have with the movie is it doesn't resemble anything GI Joe outside of Snake Eyes and Baroness. There has to be a hint of what endeared the line to us as kids without turning it into a groaner for non-fans. I've seen the special suits the Joes will wear and heard about the "liquid armor" for Baroness. Even if the movie is set 10 years in the future, the technology is way too advanced if those set reports are true. |

exactly...everyone thinks we "haters" just hate it for something to hate. It doesnt have to be just like the cartoon but lets take the original 13 (i'd even go so far as to say hey throw shooter in there just for good measure). Sorta futuristic kinda but pretty well grounded in reality. Would that have been so hard to do instead of making a SUPER UNREALISTIC sigma sux styled setting?

i think Resolute has nailed exactly what i would love to see in a Joe movie...i mean that small little clip said so much...still has the look, but lost the campiness...too bad for us

Well I would be more about resolute if Roadblock were actually called Roadblock not heavy freakin duty. The fact that they are doin that also in the new IDW comic pisses me off too.

I also think us "Haters" get lumped in together when the truth is some of us are pissed off for different reasons.

That's what I said when I got my first glimpse of Transformers: Car Robots. But other than a few cool toys the show itself soured my opinion pretty quickly.
