this costume is great, it really is. with my low-level costume making skills, and quite honestly my short, stocky frame, i wouldnt even attempt something like this. and before i ask the upcoming questions, understand, this is not a criticism of this costume...its fantastic....but....
can you honestly imagine this on the big screen?
even a professional costume designer is going to have a problem with this. the degree to which this problem is will depend greatly on how entrenched the Joe movie is...either in reality or fantasy.
if they go the fantasy route and stick closely to source material...us Joe fans will eat it up......but John Q. MovingGoingPublic will tear it up...seeing street fighter or megaforce revisited.
if they go the reality route...us joe fans are left feeling shunned...and John Q. is left with a delta force remake...which with enough action will haul greatly at the BO, spawning reality based sequels.
so, reality or fantasy? is there a middle ground? honest thoughts on if either can be successfully pulled off?
me, i say go fantasy, stay with source as much as possible....that may kill the box office returns from most moviegoers, but i'll be happy....and isnt that what really matters? gung.heaux's happiness?

They will go the Daredevil route with his design. Now the mask will be integrated into the helmet. Should be a glorious geek nirvana. I would be more concerned about Destro... |

First, you always make three points in any argument. It makes your position much stronger. Second, this movie will be much different from anything we imagine. It probably will not have a GI Joe logo as we know it and Snake Eyes' face will be shown within the first 15 minutes of the film. Third, while looking at your thumbnail photos and reading SW fan day, I thought Snake Eyes had one of those plastic lightsabers. Now, that would be a great movie. Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow with lightsabers? I'd pay the price of admission twice over and run from theater to theater as I collected the fond mental images of Ninjas with laserswords. I would hoard them in my brain as mnemonic army builders. Fourth, I choose reality with sprinkles of ultra mega mega bad-assery of Hong Kong flicks thrown int. I imagine Snake Eyes will probably be seen in some sort of dark urban commando uniform. Look at Blade 2 or 3 for inspiration. Which one had the dark vampire ninjas attacking Blade at his compound? I remember watching that film and thinking, "Wow. Vampire Snake Eyes." And Fifth, make Snake Eyes a vampire so he can regenerate and live through the sextet of GI Joe films they make.
I hope my flawless argument convinces you.

I would hope the Joe movie goes as well.

Like it was mentioned above, for the Commando version, I can see something like those guys Batman was fighting on the subway in Batman Begings or for the Ninja version, like the vamps in Blade 2, when they attacked Blade's compound. Or maybe get both versions in the film, Commando when he's doing something military related and the Ninja version for his encounter with Stormshadow. |

Nerd Anger Alert... | Hollywood is about making money, not impressing us fans, so I think you are correct with the example of the Transformers movie. GI Joe will be a great movie, but probably not to us so much as the general public who vaguely recalls the cartoon (or comics). |
