...we'll see another G.I. Joe live action film but rebooted to more closely resemble what we know to be G.I. Joe in the about three years?
ala Ang Lee's Hulk vs. The Incredible Hulk?? everyone passed on Hulk but most fans raved about The Incredible Hulk. Thus I think we'll see another movie but one where they go back and actually listen to the fans..... Somehow the 2009 movie just feels like Canon's Master of the Universe. Outside of names and a skeleton-looking evil antagonist it really wasn't anything like the toy or cartoon line. |

in 3 yrs we'll be either seeing or waiting for g.i.joe 2. No matter how diffrn't the movie is from what u xpect, there's really not enough people that would "know" what g.i.joe is. Even G.I.joe has had diffrn't versions and styles so much so that there isn't a "definitive" G.I.joe... Hulk has a "Hulk Smash" style that Ang Lee missed that everyone that even has a passing idea of who the Hulk is knows. If the movie makes enough money we'll see G.I.Joe 2. If it doesn't then we won't see a g.i.joe movie again in our lifetimes...

If it works, good for it and I look forward to sequels.
However, I expect it to suck, and hope that a better one is made in about 5 years. |

The only thing that i find "Incredible" about this topic, and it's not the Hulk, is that your calling for a "re-boot" on something in which you haven't even seen and hasn't been released. Seems a bit ass backwards, no?

Looks like they are trying to cover all bases by giving us the resolute cartoon. It's like they know this movie will suck, but are too deep to back out now.
They are giving the Punisher 3 chances to get it right. They gave Hulk 2 they are giving Transformers 3 chances including the animated movie (and still haven't got one right imo). GI.Joe is on it's second chance to get things right, if you count the animated GI.Joe movie, wich I do. If 'Rise of Cobra' sux as I think it will. I don't think Joe will get another chance at a movie for more like 10 years, not 3. |

A reboot is highly unlikely.
First, this movie hasn't even been released yet!!! Why are we talking about rebooting a franchise that doesn't begin for months? Second, this movie, if it makes a lot of money, will spawn sequels. That could be a good or bad thing, depending on what this film ends up being. Third, Hollywood generally reboots franchises they believe will make money. If this movie ends up beinga stinker, kiss your Joe movies goodbye for a while. Could it be rebooted if this doesn't do well? Yes. But it took Batman almost ten years to be rebooted, and that character has a lot bigger following the G.I.Joe. |

As for being on topic here and my thoughts on the movie, well, I'd like to see it first then judge it. I mean that IS the way things work, right? |

Right now, we have 3 reboots going on - The movie, Resolute and the comic book. I am sure there will be some overlap of continuity, but I also expect them to diverge a bit as well. If the cartoon does well, and the movie indeed bombs then we might see them build off Resolute (assuming that is successful). They would be smart to hedge their bets on the franchise.

No rebooted film and not because this one is gonna rock. It's cause if it bombs... it's gone. Maybe ten years from now but I really don't see someone caring that much to invest in it.
