Live Action G.I. Joe Movie Destro, what should he look like?
IMO I would like to see Destro use his Vac-Metal mask as a "battle-mask" to be used to hide his true Identity from the Joe team when in Battle and in Public.

lets face it...in the cartoon we just accepted the fact that the mask was the SAME size as destro's human head. and we REALLY accepted the fact that destro's mouth moved (and there was no nano-BS back then, it just moved).
weve all seen con attendees wearing homemade destro costumes...and dont get me wrong, most look great, but these steel-helmeted scotsmen look unrealistic...no matter the effort and quality.
i think that sommers can pull of a good balance betwixt reality and fantasy...i liked mummy(s) and van helsing. hopefully, the fantastic weapons, gear and uniforms will be woven nicely into a realistic world.
now to answer the intial question....destro's mask in the movie. heres what i would like to see.
destro is hanging in his castle with anastasia...no mask.
destro executing "official" MARS business, dealing with cobra commander, making demands of world leaders or threatening the Joe team...pristine gold mask.
destro personally going into battle or performing "un-official" MARS business...tarnished, battlescarred silver mask.
the gold mask would be the "family mask" passed through the generations.
as far as how to present it on film...green-screen sock over actors face for filming and CGI mask rendered in post. id like to see them just go ahead and make the mask VERY close to the size of the actors head, even if its a tad too small for reality and NO MOVING MOUTH and NO EYE SLITS. how could he see through it? easy...it doesnt matter...i will suspend belief on that one.
get a good enough actor and you will get the result that hugo weaving gave "V" in V for Vendetta....one of the greatest movies i have ever watched.

As for CGI, I'm tired of it all the time. I'd prefer a real mask but if a little CGI is needed (Especially to make the eyes green) I suppose it'll be alright | |

that being said, I want him to be in and out of the mask, regardless of how the effect is accomplished. | |
