I think Sean Connery can be a great Destro. He can play the part of a firm, strategist out to make money but retain a sense of honor. Look at his portray of Bond in the first movies. He comes off as a guy who knows what hes doing, even if you don't, and will play it to his advantage.
Catherine Bell for Lady jaye. Watanabe Ken for Storm Shadow. |

Y'know what would be a REALLY smart move?
If Cobra Commander will indeed be playing his chess game in the background as the rumor says, and, taking into consideration he will most certainly be wearing a mask... the producers could perfectly keep the actor's identity as a secret until the film premieres. After all... the "body" actor doesn't necesarilly have to be the one who does the voice as well (just like with Snake eyes) There are ways around it... even today, in the internet days.

No, I think you mis-understood me. The original voice for Destro in the old cartoon was supposed to sound like Sean Connery. My other point was that even though the characters is a Scott, it seems that some people think just because he has a deep voice and his helmet makes him look bald that he should be played by a black actor. Kind of ludicrous and a even maybe little bit stereotypical to think that if you ask me.

Destro is white, enough said.
the JOE universe is so well diverse, that there are so many different ethnicities, that you should let everyone be who they are and everyone will be fine. ...jesus. |

Destro's voice actor was black. He never struck me as Scottish, sounded more African, like Idi Amin. Alexander Destro is black.

There we go, with a lazy eye Destro. We might as well throw MF DOOM into the mix. (don't know? look him up)

Yes but the cartoon continuity is not as great as the comic continuity. Despite many fans growing up with the cartoon, many diehards like us, and casual fans even, KNOW Destro is a scottish arms dealing bad ass with the audacity to wear a shiny helmet into battle, taunt Duke into punching him in the face just to point and laugh at him, and yet still score the femme fatale Baroness. His origins and ancestry dating back centuries in Europe is integral to his character. Sure Alexander Destro is half black, and no one has problems with him being portrayed by a black actor, so there is no race issue. Daddy Destro is scottish, and thus, everyone, even the casual audience, will expect either a Scottish or European actor to take up the mantle of castle Destro.
Its like switching Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow and saying Snake Eyes was japanese and Storm Shadow was white, and that one was adopted, and the other was the outsider even though he technically isn't because he is japanese. Besides there are certain things that are going to be kept for the sake of brand recognition. Again, Destro being a European arms dealer is something Hasbro probably will not let the moviemakers change. |

I agree Shin. I was kidding, especially about MF DOOM playing Destro. I refer to the Marvel comics as canon for all things Joe. Larry Hama should be the ultimate consultant if comic continuity were to be the example set for the movie. On the other hand, you know how hollywood works...
