i and about 15 other people i know of are right in that boat with you. At least tf had the orginal voice for prime in and prime was at least a semi-truck. but these changes with joe? its too much to handle. this movie and all things associated with it will never be GI JOE now matter how much they say it is.

I'm going against the grain with some of these latest posts, in that I absolutely loved the TF movie. I was a huge TF fan since I first saw the series as a child, but I knew things would change and TF's had changed quite a bit over the years, so I was prepared for whatever changes they would have in store. I saw some early pics of the TFs and thought, "WTF?" But then decided to stay away from spoilers. I went in without any expectations, and came out really enjoying the film. I don't believe anything is sacred, so I guess that leaves me very open to new interpretations.
I'm the same with G.I. Joes. I loved them as a child, and really, they were a fond memory. I only recently started collecting the 25th anniversary figs, and even then, I am only getting the figures I always wanted as a kid and never got. I'm basically fulfilling my childhood fantasies, and as far as this movie goes: same thing. I try to stay away from most of the movie spoilers, and I've got no expectations. Hopefully I will be entertained. If not, so be it. |

Look at this they could have made the TF blocky and with more money (Bay) could have looked just as good as your excuse for TF.....

Starbauck as a chic rocks is the way to go. On the G.I.*JOE Movie...I hope they kill Ripcord, Duke, and Destro in that order...what a waste of good kodak film.

Original BSG was just a way to cash in on Star Wars. It wasn't bad for the day (esp the soundtrack and action) but the new one is on a whole other level. It's probably the most realistic "military in space" action I've seen since Cameron's Aliens.

O.k. So I saw the Dark Knight last weekend. It F'ing Ruled. I'm not even a quarter as big a Batman fan as GI.Joe or Transfomers. Still I recognize that the new Batman movie was great.
The New Batman movies are well made, well acted, well directed and definitely not just for kids. However you can't deny that some of Batman's encarnations have been..well..rather silly. Like this. "Holy Sardine!!" Or this craptacular Batman from a more recent 1997 exploit GI.Joe has had it's fair share of silliness, Eco Worriors, Battle force 2000, Cobra-la, but I don't think it's ever gone past the redemption point. So what I am wondering is why not show the same respect to the new GI.Joe movie (or Transformers movie for that matter) as they have shown to Batman in his new movies? This is a quote from a Tanker about the new Joe Movie "..this movie WILL rule...if you are expecting saving private ryan-then you really dont know what gi joe is all about!" I'm personally not expecting the GI.Joe movie to be like 'Saving Private Ryan' or 'Apocalypse Now' or 'Full metal Jacket'. But please spare us Powersuits, comic relief characters, and Laser guns. Were adults now dammit!! Last edited by delta; 07-24-2008 at 08:44 PM.. |
