Am I the only one....

...that isn't looking forward to this movie.

I read the original run of GI JOE from Marvel in the 80s. I had many many of the toys in the 80s. I watched all the cartoons many times.

Yet this movie doesn't feel like a GI Joe movie. It could have been made into anything else. The costumes are poor. The story leaks prove the plot is weak.

So far this is my impression:

Costumes have Singer's X-men disease. Thats where colorful and unique comic costumes become black leather.

GI JOE: A Real American Hero - it isn't. The producers have decided to remove "American Hero" to push international ticket sales.

Destro leads Cobra? I thought that was Cobra Commander's job.

The drastic changes to characters.

Sorry I'm not feeling it. I just don't understand why we can't get a movie faithful to the original concept.

Studios will tell you it's so they can make a movie that will please everyone. Well maybe those that have never seen or read GI Joe will actually like it when the see the movie that's a honest and straight interpretation of the original concept.

I want to see legions of CGI Hiss Tanks not some real world tank painted black or blue. I want CGI Rattlers and Skystrikers not some repainted F-22s and Warthogs. I want Cobra Soldiers to look like the action figure that's sitting in front of me. Not some film extra in a bunch of Army Surplus gear. We have the special effects technology. It could be in the style like Sky Captain or 300.

My biggest fear is this movie will be just like that 80s version of He-Man and Masters of the Universe. Are we sure this isn't being made by Golan-Globus Productions?

What's everyone else's opinion?

I'd be okay with real-world Hiss Tanks and the like if they looked the part. I'd much rather have that than CGI. Marlon Wayans as Ripcord pisses me off to no end. Storm Shadow looks like crap, too. Snake Eyes (?)--the figure looks way cooler.

From what I have seen I am not one bit interested in this movie. However if the previews come out and they look good I will at least give it a chance.

i think its going to flop, i want to give it a chance but they make it look really cheesy. i thaught it was gonna be like what they did with transformers. when i went to go see transformers the special effects were so good that it just made it real yah know? with gijoe i agree that they look dumb in there weak ass costumes and its looks like a bad director who knows nothing about joe is making it.

sorry to buck the trend but im really excited about this movie,i think after the trailers start coming out many doubters will change their minds.

Yeh they have changed some stuff but then they have to so they can cram it all in under 2 hours-as far as the suits go,we know for a fact that they will have many looks (hell its the perfect way to sell more figures!) and I just cant wait to see the rest.

It will be a popcorn movie, but then as much as i LOVE gi joe,it just wouldnt suit a "saving private ryan" type film and as far as the "international" thing goes...to me and everyone in my country who loves Gi Joe,it first captured our hearts and minds as Action Force:An International Hero!

Mine? Well I can say this much. I have yet to see the film or anymore than some pics of ONE set of costumes. Do I like everythig about it? NO. But I can go down the list of my favorite films and tell you things that I didn't like or would have done differently.

I'm not going to bash a movie before I've seen it.

I guess I don't get why everyone's so up in arms over the international nature of the movie. Honestly, I couldn't care less whether they are from America or not. To me, it's a big non-factor.
