I read a legit article on the internet today that said that devil's due would keep the joe license through july of 2008, but that several suiters were in talks with hasbro to get the license in the future, the article seemed to intimate though that it would either stay with devil's due or that MARVEL would make a play for it. Does anyone know anything about this? Also i wonder if joe could return to it's former glory with all marvel's money and great creative team behind it? Don't get me wrong i read the dd joe series religiously just wondering if MARVEL could make it even better

the article was from posted on yo joe, it stated that the chances were high that either devil's due or marvel would get the license in the future, it did also mention dc and idw publishing but said that idw really would not be an improvement of dd and dc has no history with the brand and has ties to mattel. I will go to yo joe and get the link so you can decide if it is legit for yourself

The post is on yo joe under comics, ddp loses joe license the link given is http :// forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php=136586
It really does not make sense for hasbro to use anyone other than dd or marvel 1. because they already have a history with each 2. they are already under contract with marvel to make the marvel legends line 3. the major improvement by switching to marvel is to meet the new demand that will occur when the movie is released, dd being a farely small distributor. We do no for a fact that hasbro is in negotiation with several comic companies in regard to the future of the license beyond july of 2008. Although they have not ruled out dd it is widely felt coming out of the joe con that dd will most likely be replaced with a larger more capable company. |

I'd like to see DD keep it for now. This current storyline (and including the previous Baroness one) really are good. The series is finally finding it's identity and I'd like to see what DD can do with that. So extend if for another year or two. If they can't make a final go at it, then let Marvel take over.

I want it to stay with DDP.I don't want Marvels greedy hands touching this book.Don't get me wrong,The marvel run was damn good. The house of ideas is a different place than what it was 20 years ago.The only reason marvel would want it back is to bank off the upcoming movie.I'll end my rant there....for now.

i voted to give it back to hama.
however i would like to see DD keep the license, maybe just get hama to write the big picture for them, sort of a consultant? i think DD has been doing okay lately too (except for the upcoming covers). as for why it took so long? eh, rome wasnt built in a day. probably just took them a while to get the hang of it.

As long as Larry is writing it, I don't really care which company publishes it. I love G.I. Joe comics, (I've read 'em all, except for the current WWIII storyline) but I have loathed the hackish/amateur style of DD's writers. I read multiple comics from all of the publishers in the poll, and they all have their positives and negatives.
That said, Marvel would most likely be the way to go because they could keep a stable art team. DD kept getting their Joe artists poached by the big two, which was pretty embarrassing. |
