So considering that the casting was being done back in April, what's the latest on the Grid Iron custom? Any updates?

Yeah, I PMed with Raging Spoon last night. He got a little delayed, but he's supposed to be shipping me the heads/helmet combos today. If you PM him, he should be able to hook you up. I don't know if you've ever worked with him, but he's great.

Lose the "Captain" from his code-name. Grid-Iron as a code-name is fine, and while not a sports fan, the character seemed more capable than half the other members of the team. But to use his rank within his code-name sort of defeats the purpose of a code-name. With or without the football grenades.

However, I totally agree. In my Joeverse, his code name/call sign is just "Grid-Iron".

You're totally right about him being the new "Leader" character for the that time. Falcon was supposed to fill the same roll, but the lack of a regular cartoon when he first came out - and then turning him into a drug addict in the DiC cartoon - didn't make him seem that way for many fans. But think about it: Falcon was the new "Special Forces" soldier like Duke and Flint were, and he's named after a bird of prey like Hawk. He was totally supposed to be the new leader... and then Hasbro used him as the leader of the Sonic Fighters, and Night Force! Hasbro obviously considered him a Leader. Even in the comics, Larry Hama wrote it that Duke was working under Lt. Falcon. A few years later, Grid-Iron show us. He's the new "Officer" and he's an Infantry Officer - so he's Ranger/Airborne qualified. He's a West Pointer like Hawk. He was supposed to be the new "Leader" character. He was just not tactical enough - too gimicky. There are some really cool figures from that time: Bullhorn and Rampart come to mind. They could have kept the helmet and the code name, but they just went overboard. I really wish they would do some modern style figures of the character - keep the helmet and code name, and just turn him into a really tactical, Ranger Officer.
