For those of you who havn't seen it, (about 2 minutes into the video)
They had a 1960's Nurse GI Jane doll, They said the thing can go for $5-6000 at auction. Is it worth that much? & did they get a good deal on it for its Loose condition? |

I think they ended up getting it for around $600. It had some issues and that number they quoted was for a near mint Joe in the packaging. Did anyone see when the guy tried selling his transformer collection for $20000? I love that show, but it seems like they lowball the crap out of people, guess that's just the pawn biz

In that condition I doubt he will make much profit on it. It has been a while since I've seen one for sale (other than ebay) but with the economy the way it is I doubt the price has gone up much.

Pawning is about lowballing. You don't sell to a pawnshop for top dollar, you trade it for some quick cash. And I think you have a certain amount of time to go buy it back at close to trade price before it is actually 'for sale'

That dude's TF collection was big, but a lot of them looked dirty and worn. If you sold it piece by piece at top dollar ebay prices, he might be able to get $20,000 based on what he said he had (which is more than was shown), but really, that's a difficult way to sell that much stuff.
I have a good condition, non-dirty, almost complete G1 set with all the hard to find guys in it, and I still doubt I could get a lump sum $20,000 for it, even if it would sell for more than that individually. It's nice to have that value on it in my head, but realistically, I'm not going to be able to sell it for that much. The Pawn guys do seriously lowball, but their top offer is understandable considering the time they would have to put into piecing it out. |

If you choose the "pawn" option, yes. I don't know about all pawn shops, but the one on the show also has a "sale" option where you can't get it back, but they pay a bit more (thought it seems like they always start low enough to be at a "pawn" price).

GI Joe Nurse is one of if not THE rarest GI Joe item ever produced...MIB $6000 is an easy sell even today....Loose for $600 I'd buy them all day long!
The guy with the Transformers wanted top retail dollar without doing the work = too freaking much. I would have have paid $7K identified and completed everything, and parted the collection out for around $21K. That's the only way to do it as a seller (remember paypal and ebay take $16% right off the top not including listing fees (another 5%)

Poor Transformer collector, because of a baby? I am sure there not pawning her crap for cash. I am pretty sure my action figure collection will be stated in the prenup. I like how the wife was in the room too, poor dude. Best of luck to him.
