Hey all I was just curious about something. Star Wars has been a major priority for me for years and I have acquired a ton of stuff. After the 30th anniversary wrapped up I decided to stop collecting the big SW and move to Gi Joe. This happened in 82 with the original ARAH stuff. Now the fire is burning strong again for the joes and I have no regrets for leaving Star Wars. What about you guys? Has anyone shifted from Star Wars to joe collecting?

I'm almost there. When I was a kid, I was all about Star Wars until GI Joe came about in 1982. It was in between Empire and Jedi, and the arguments about whether Vader was Luke's father were finally dying down. My Star Wars figures were still favorites, but I was getting into plastic army men. GI Joe arrived and I was an immediate fan. With the end of the original saga I moved all my attention to Joe, eventually selling my SW collection (stupid I know) to buy more Joe toys.
Flash forward to the present. I became a SW collector again with the Power of the Force figures of 1995. The Special Editions and Prequels kept my interest all this time, but now they're over. Again. Luckily, the 25th Anniversary has arrived to take control of my collecting habits again. I still buy SW figures, but I have to admit that the first thing I do when I hit a toy aisle is check for new Joes.

I did back in 82, which I regret. But got back into SW with the relaunch in 95 and haven't stopped since. Joe's on the other hand, was hit and miss since they came back in the late 90's, but I was only getting my 2 favorite characters(Snake Eyes & Storm Shadow) becasue the figures were hit & miss as far as product quality went. And if it wasn't for the 25th line, I wouldnt be into Joe's and going full force now, buying everything they're releasing in the 25th line.

I've been a fan of SW my entire life. I don't think I've ever "jumped ship", just "redirected focus" over the years.
I can't even begin to describe all the SW schwag I've owned over the years...and that I continue to buy :| |

I collect any Star Wars figures from the Original Trilogy and pick up only the Joes that I liked as a kid.

I stopped buying STAR WARS figures regularly in the spring of 2003. I just reached a point where I felt like I had enough, or at least enough to stop buying everything. I've picked up a couple of the silver figures since then, and somewhere between 15-20 Revenge Of The Sith figures, but the only thing I really got into was the Clone Wars line based on Genndy Tartakovsky's art. Moving away from SW allowed me to focus more on my DC collection and some other stuff. When I first saw the shots of the 25th Anniversary five-packs from last year's NY Toy Fair, I said, "If they do a v2 Snake-Eyes, I will be all over this line!" I saw a photo of that figure a month or two later, and I was instantly hooked. Hasbro could get me with STAR WARS again if they'd do another Tartakovsky-style line of animated figures.

I love what Hasbro has done with SW and part of me is sad to end it but in truth I was planning on doing this when the big H told us about the 30th collection. I still will pick up the Falcon and AT-TE just to give support for big play sets/vehicles. I want these to sell well so Hasbro will give us, I don't know, a Terrordrome or something from that scale.

I dropped Star Wars figures back in 'ye olde days' when the first "Soldiers of the World" Action Force range came out. They evolved into GI JOE and I haven't looked back.
Apart from a few Clone Troopers, I haven't bought a SW figure since the original 80's line.
