Bored while on a road trip, I brainstormed what I would put in the next Joe comic series. Slowly, based on story elements and things I always wanted to see in the Joe universe, I created my team and go to work on issue "synopsisies".
The Team: Hawk: Unit Commander Duke- Field Leader Stalker- Team Leader/Medic Scarlett- Intelligence Roadblock- Heavy Support Beach Head- Armorer/ PT Instructor Dial Tone- Communications Snake Eyes- Commando Storm Shadow- Ninja Kamakura- Ninja Spirit- Tracker/Infantry Mayday- Combat Specialist/Urban Warfare Barrel Roll- Pilot/Sniper Firewall- Computer Specialist Flint- Infantry Gung-Ho- Ordanance/Heavy Support Covergirl- Heavy Armor Driver Shipwreck- Naval Operations/Infantry Mercer- Infantry/Enemy Intelligence Wild Bill- Pilot/Infantry Torpedo- SEAL President's Envoy Ace- Pilot Rock'n'Roll- Heavy Machine Gunner Grunt- Infantry Mutt & Junkyard- K-9 Officer Stipulations for this story to work- WWIII has to end with the above characters alive, and the following Cobras alive (or able to be said are alive, or have survived the battles somehow) Cobra Commander Major Bludd Firefly Copperhead Tomax Munitia Blackout Guillotine Aleph Interrogator The general idea is that the team starts out a decent size, but not gigantic. Eventually, it would split to two titles that would run at the same time, and include cross-over events. However, the first few issues would go like this---- Issue 1 The Joes arrive at their new headquarters, The Pit II, to which SS comments is an uncreative name. After a quick debreifing of all that occured during the WWIII storyline, they get down to business. The Joes know that the Cobra Commander had to have contacts in the government in order to recruit US soldiers and agents like he did, as well as operate under the radar and procure some of his resources. Believing they can find answers in the most corrupt of military sources, the Joes decide to see if they can find anything in a compound siad to be once run by the late General Gibbs. However, when the team begins prep for the mission, Scarlett decides to remain at the base, sighting health issues. Snake Eyes confers with her, but goes with the team when she tells him to go. Once they arrive at the compound, however, the Joes discover that at the very least, Gibbs had a more profitable relationship with Cobra then we the readers or the Joes had thought; a full army's worth of BATs remain active at the mothball facility. The Joes fight their way into the compound, until finally they reach the epicenter, barricading themselves inside. Flint explores the room further, only to discover the most unexpected of surprises; Lady Jaye, living and breathing but unconsious, attatched to life support. Issue 2 The Joes reinforce their barricade while coming to grips with their discovery. Hoping to create a surprise attack on the straight-forward BATs, the Joes send out Storm Shadow, Kamakura, Snake Eyes and Spirit to ambush them from behind using vents. Meanwhile, Scarlett calls Jinx from the Pit II and attempts to have a conversation with her whilst Jinx brings down a bounty in Japan. The topic is Arashikage tradition. Back at the compound, Spirit and theothers succesfully ambush the BATs, but their armor and superior numbers keep the BATs from being defeated. Thankfully, Firewall taps into their network and creates a remote shutdown. Beach Head, frustrated, remarks of the anti-climactic finish. Stalker merely replies that "sometimes you get lucky". In a distant location, a somehow familiar group of shadowy powerplayers convene. The Joes must not be allowed to operate, despite their "publicity value" and the amount of diversions they could be used for, not if they are to follow up on their goal without being impeded in the future. At the Pit II, the team is conflicted; Overjoyed with not only Jaye's survival, but her retrieval, the questions it creates are numerous and startling; how did she survive? What happened at her funeral? And most importantly, how did a dead corrupt general manage to procure the former Joe and put her on life support while she lay in a coma? As the discussion continues, Snake Eyes leaves to check on Scarlett. She sits him down and asks him how much leave does he think they have racked up, specifically; Maternity and paternity. Issue 3 Flint, stoic, will not leave the comatose Lady Jaye. In the cbriefing room, Duke demands answers. How could something like this have happened? Through discussion, the Joes decide that the only course of action, to find out how Jaye came to be at the compound as well as the Cobra-Governemt connection, is to follow up on the late Gibb's activities and interests. Duke picks four teams for four missions; Spirit, Cover Girl, Beach Head, Mayday and Barrel Roll will go to Gibbs' former estate. Shipwreck, Torpedo, Stalker and Storm Shadow will infiltrate a SEAL training camp that was once run under Gibb's orders, believing the facility could be a cover. Wild Bill, Gung Ho, Kamakura and Mercer will fly a chopper to a "place that doesn't exist", a US detention center for captured Cobras. Finally, Duke, Roadblock and Dial Tone will "visit" one Col. Embers, a "person of interest" with Duke's former black ops allies. Firewall is to reamin at the Pit II to try to find anything through recovered disks from the compound previously raided. Snake Eyes stays behind with Scarlett after requesting a temp. and immediate leave of absence. Inside Scarlett's quarters, she remarks how he has remained silent, even for him. Snake Eyes removes his mask, and smiles at her, and signs the words "baby-names?" Meanwhile, in what was once the Silent Castle, the evil figures of Interrogator, Guillotine, Munitia, Firefly, Blackout, Tomax and Major Bludd stand in what resembles a dining room. Tomax addresses the others, telling them they have been called as the first to return to Cobra, and that what is next will make everything before pale. "The Commander is coming home." Well, there's my premise. What do y'all think? Last edited by Snake Eyes-Joe Ninja; 04-22-2008 at 01:44 AM.. |

I would rather see a restart of the series. Keeping all the stuff we loved about our characters, the general premise, but I want to see a series grounded in reality without sacrificing the essence of the series, if that makes any sense.
I would elaborate, but I would probably get booed out of the forum.

I like how you assembled the Joe team. It makes the team more dynamic and fresh. You make the roster larger than America's Elite but smaller than ARAH. My only complain is that you didn't include the pilot of all pilots, Ace. Sure you put Barrel Roll but I see him more as a sniper/recon trooper than a pilot. Ace by the other half is known as the core G.I.Joe unit's combat jet pilot.

Actually, Ace is part of my storyline, and he is being used dynamically. he's Being put to good use. There are more things going on than what has appeared so far. I'll post the next issues in a bit.

Issue 4 (Lots in this one... Probably would be a double sized issue. I'm leading somewhere with this thing, folks, promise.)
A jet flown by Ace carries a very special passenger- The President of the United States. The Prez is gaurded by Mutt, Junkyard II, Rock'n'Roll and Grunt, as well as a cadre of Secret Service agents. The Prez feels uneasy with Air Force One being used as a diversion, as well as the Joe protection. The Joes reassur him that after WWIII, he will need ample gaurding whenhe arrives at the World Aftermath Conference, a meeting of nations from around the globe to discuss what is next after Cobra's actions. In the Silent Castle, the Commander arrives with great fanfare and a legion of Cobra troops. With him is an extremely large man with a bold head and odd goggles the Commander calls "Coils". When some of the cobras complain of the fallout of WWIII, the usual promises of money and power "rents" their alliegance once again. The Commander promptly orders his new cabal; Firefly is to go to an undisclosed location and await for further orders; if the Commander is to be successful, he will need more specialists and more personal protection than Coils. Blackout and Guillotine are to go to the Treyarch Corporations International Headquarters to complete a mission that they will be briefed on en route. Finally, the Commander proclaims that those who remain loyal to him will be rewarded far greater than they could ever imagine, and gives Tomax a folder ominously marked "Dr. Venom, Incomplete Projects". Meanwhile, Stalker and his team arrives at the SEAL training camp, located at a Florida beach. Survielance shows that everything seems to be in order, until SS notices that the troops are practicing a move he once trqained Cobra troops with. Not much, but worthy of investigation. Beachhead's team enters Gibbs' former neighborhood. Their conversation tells the reader that his estae wasn't touched, as per order of his will and viable due to Gibbs' wealth (no doubt ill-gotten). Spirit's quick recon shows up nothing unusual, and Covergirl's social worker contacts brings up zip for the neighbors. Beach Head, Covergirl and Spirit infiltrate the home while Barrel Roll and Mayday wait guard outside, leading up to BR using the classic "Come here often?" He is rewarded with a smile. Inside, the team loos for anything linking Gibbs to Jaye and the compound (other than rumor), unaware as they set off a silent alarm. Two blocks over, a group of SAW vipers here the alarm and gear up. Duke, Dial-Tone and RBlock meet up with Embers, who is nothing but polite. He laughs at Duke's questions, flirts with his secretary and offers Rblock a job in his sec. detail. LAte for an appointment, he casually walks away. When Dial-Tone asks how such an obnoxious but nice guy could be a suspect in military corruption, Duke responds that there's a reason he was only a person of interest. Wild Bill and his team arrive at the prison complex located in an unnamed mountain location. The team discusses Gibbs and his connections with Cobra- Was he an unofficial member, or just a VERY corrupt military officer? What is known is that he made numerous "unscheduled" visits to the prison over the years, and while untill a few years ago it had not contained any major Cobra agents, it currently housed some of Cobra's more notable members, including Copperhead and a few others that the general populace were told had perished. But at the prison, a busy mercanary is planting C4 around the complex. Back at the Silent Castle, Major Bludd stands in a room with Cobra Commander by a fireplace. Bludd: A prison with Cobra washouts? Mindbenders' predecessors failures? Bloody medical supply makers? What are you doing Commander? Commander: How is it not obvious, Bludd? I'm preparing for the future. Yeah, so we have a couple of different plotlines in my tale so far; The Commander's current scheme, SE/Scarlett having a baby, Tomax's "gift", the "Power Players", Lady Jaye, Embers, etc. This is going places, I promise, so if anyone is actively reading it, my appreciation for giving a young, "temporarily handicapped" man something to do. |

I for one am reading it. might I sugesst a bit more dialouge amongst the characters? Since you are doing a good job with the outline may as well give us some more of the interactions between the characters. but either way, keep it coming.

Can't we keep the Joes how we know them and maybe also create that global group? I mean, that's why I stopped buying most Marvel books. I don't know the characters anymore.
