Hey guys. Ive been recollecting a lot of vintage figures from the 84-86 series lately. Lately I have been having a hard time grasping the fact that often these loose, vintage 25 year old joes can be had for almost the same price as a the new stuff thats out. I know that theres a lot of variation....but it seems crazy that I got a loose complete 1985 Flint for $12 and the new Flint sells for $40 plus carded. Same with a lot of the others, Baroness, Lady Jaye, etc. I know it has to do with supply and demand and all, but just seems kinda bizzarre to me.

See, if you were around before the 25th stuff, you would never have been able to get the arah figures for that price.
25th seems to be the in thing now, so you can basically buy old figures now for almost cheaper than what they originally went for! It's a good time to be a collector of the original joes! |

It blows my mind how much people pay for stuff that is essentially still found at retail - albeit, difficult to find, but i've gotten nearly everything so far from stores, being patient. well, i still need to get the target exclusives, and i had to get a few of the initial figures from ebay (i got an exceptional lot for a decent price) that i didn't already have (flint, lady jaye). these are nice figures, i'm glad they're in circulation - but c'mon. by paying exorbitant prices for these, you're allowing others to demand equally ridiculous prices.

I actually did collect 97-2003. It was all MOC stuff though. I sold it all to help start me off my education. I just now I started collecting vintage stuff loose....since I live on a student budget.
So far Ive been able to get almost all the the 1985 series loose and complete for less than $15 per figure. The most I paid was for a complete Snake Eyes for $28. Im happy about this and I hope it keeps up....but it just seems crazy! I have been lucky enough to all the 25th stuff at retail as well...with the exception of wave 4....I got impatient and paid $8 per figure. I cant bring myself to pay more than that for these brand new toys! |

It is all about what is in as far as collectors and buyers. The 25th buying and selling line is hot right now and the older figures have cooled down some. So it makes sense that the 25th line is going for a higher premium and the older figures are not...

I'm one of those 25th only buyers. I will not touch the vintage stuff. I thought they were cool when I was a kid, but now they look like dollar store junk to me. Apparently I'm not alone. So congrats to the vintage collectors, the new line has given you a heck of a price break.
