Who knows what people do illegally behind closed doors. If people ARE doing it, Im sure they arent (most anyway) going to advertise it on an open forum. Making a copy in any way, shape or form of copyrighted materials is definitely illegal. And again, taking the card art and blowing it up to poster size so its actually decent looking would not be possible, at all. There just isnt enough high-res detail in the original to make it 10 times larger and look good.

It is illegal, but I don't think Hasbro would care if you are making a single poster for yourself. They definitely will if you try to make a profit off them though.
If you scale an image over it's original size, it will lose definition. It's unavoidable. But you can try to make the best of a bad situation by working with the best quality image you can get, like the picture from a camera with very high megapixels or a scanner qith really high dpi. In any case, if you are printing something big you will also be looking at it from a distance, so sometimes things can look pretty decent anyway. Have you ever looked at a highway roadsign up close? Or any sign that is several stories high? You'll see what i mean. In the thread where I've been posting images from the hasbro tour some people will be printing poster-sized, so maybe you can wait and see how their's turn out. |

If you do the camera trick, dont worry so much about the mega-pixels, worry about sensor size. Get someone with a FF (full-frame is equal to 35mm size and the biggest/best type of DSLR available) and do it that way. Still, youre going to lose details, I promise you.

Perhaps this would be something to mention to Hasbro at their next Q&A. If somebody plants the idea maybe they'll release some poster sized versions of the original art at good quality resolution and production values. Especially if enough of us express interest. I would love a good sized poster of some of my favorate character art. They still have the original art in their archives. I'v seen pictures of them that they displayed at past JoeCons.
I would pay Hasbro for that.
