Kill Cobra Commander? Better not. Arrest him. Please...
So Cobra has claimed United States... if they lose then what. Start again. What will they go after, the moon? I think it's too much too soon. The pace is way to quick. The writing is okay. But where will we end up if say CC is finally stopped? Who wants to see that? I don't.
I think the Marvel series really nailed it. I have enjoyed Devils Due runs, hell, I have every Joe comic even G.I.JOE extreme but there is something missing in this current run. Maybe it's feeling or character.
Just my two cents.

Just my two cents. | I don't think you have to worry about where the story goes after WWIII because insiders have said that DDP has lost the license to IDW, and DDP has already stated that AE 36 is the end of the 25-year continuity of Joe comics as we know it. So arrest him, kill him, doesn't really matter because we're getting a reboot. http://www.joereloaded.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3632
Personally, I have really enjoyed the last couple of years of AE. I think it's not been better since the invasion of Springfield and the first Cobra Civil War. I hope it ends with a massive throw-down since the consequences don't really have to be dealt with anyway. We need a satisfying end to this long-lived continuity.

I've liked most of the AE plot lines, although I was frustrated with the "kill-off/resurrect Snake-eyes" storyline and the subsequent decision to have him choose to ignore his ninja training and stick with his commando roots. I really wanted to see DD wrap up that story thread by having SE get back to being his balanced self with the help of Stormshadow and Kamakura. Guess we won't be getting that story now...
I also have to throw in that I was a huge fan of the original Marvel run on the comic with issue 46 basically launching my comic (and eventually figure) collecting addiction. However as I go back and re-read those old books, I realize how much more mature the DD books really are. Maybe it's just my opinion, but I really prefer a lot of the DD run (including AE) to the original series. As an adult, the stories just feel more realistic. |

I agree that the DDP stuff is far more realistic than before, but Hasbro hasn't been forcing new sci-fi vehicles and neon-trooper-of-the-month down their throats either. I would argue that the DDP stuff would have been less interesting to kids back then. Marvel was great for then, DDP is great for now. It's a win-win.
I started my Marvel run and compulsive comic habit with 47. To this day, the Ripcord/Zartan plot and ensuing battle on cobra island is one of my favorite arcs in all of comics. Rod Whigham is the man.

I REALLY do not like the look of the WWIII stuff lately. I mean look at the last couple issues. Major Bludd looks like he is 300+pounds, and Tomax and Xamot look like Timmy from south park. I can understand different art styles, but can't this guy dray anyone that isnt bloated. There is one scene, I think it is on the USS Flagg with the pilots that all he drew was a smiley face for one guys (I think it was Ghostrider) face. I think the art work for the old run was nice, yes it looked cartoony for the first few, and everyone was on steriods ,but it still looked crisp and detailed.
The SE death and return was pretty bad to me, and I am a big snake eyes fan. I can understand the return to his commando roots, but like IOWAJEDI said, I was wating for him to go back to a more balanced character. So overall, I like it, it has its low points, but I really did like the writing for the most part |
