Man, I envy you!!! To read the whole run straight through without having to wait YEARS for it to pan out. I read them when they originally came out. You should look up the GI Joe review podcast. They review the Marvel comics and do a fantastic job.

Yep, I'd love for Marvel to get it back for that reason alone but it sounds like a done deal for IDW.

I am in the middle of re-reading them and there is so much I forgot. I only need about 15 more to go to finish the complete run of 155. Most are in the $1 bins except for the first 15 or so and the last 10 are pretty pricey too. I do have them all on digital comics so I don't even need to touch my originals.

I too only recently (In the last year or two) discovered the comics. I grew up on the toon, but the comics have so much more meat on them in terms of backstories and much more (I'm also still catching up on issues )

I have only seen one episode of the cartoon, save the mini series and the movie:
Cold Slither. The ending...thats all I'm saying. |

I never heard this before and it seems kind of weird I would think Marvel and Hasbro would share the rights to the comic stories since it's Hasbro's property and Marvel published them but, I just found this on wikipedia don't know if it's true but it is interesting:
"Shortly after the final issue (which was released in December 1994), a G.I. Joe Special #1 was released, with alternate art for issue #60 by Todd McFarlane. The first 37 issues were also released in 13 digests. In 2001, with the success of Devil's Due Comics run of G.I. Joe, Marvel Comics collected the first 50 issues in five trade paperbacks, with ten issues in each book. All covers for the trade paperbacks were drawn by J. Scott Campbell. Marvel will not publish the rest of the series, because Hasbro has purchased the rights to the comics. Hasbro has since released reprints of some issues with some of their action figures." Here is the link for the article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G.I._Jo...#Marvel_Comics Found more info about this on joereloaded.com under the thread Hasbro answers your questions? 3.) If DDP loses the license, would Hasbro be interested in purchasing the rights to their G.I. Joe comics, like you did with Marvel? Answer:We won't speculate about this. Well that would explain why they only made 5 TPB's, I always wondered why they did that. That kinda sucks because I still need the last 30 or so issues and some of them are pricey, and I never thought to check the old dollar bin until now.
