But I am still here... still collecting and trading Joes, still customizing them... but since a few weeks ago I've slowed down a bit.
Partly because my boss received a few complaints about how I decorated my office. If you guys recall I had my entire 25th collection displayed in my office... as well as a bunch of comics. Well, I was told it was a distraction and I had to take them all home. My wife is pretty understanding, but she doesn't want to see toys in her home. So they're sitting in a bunch of boxes in the basement. She has agreed that in a few months or so that basement room will get finished and I can use that room to display my collection. So until then, I don't even want to look at them. Not until they can be displayed and enjoyed properly. I'm also not allowed to come to HISSTank.com while at work, so that cut my time online drastically. My wife doesn't like me spending too much time online while at home either, so it's a bit hard to keep up. I'm not gone for good, just taking a break now and again. I want to apologize if my PMs don't get replied to in a timely manner. The best way to get a hold of me is via email... just use my screen name @hotmail.com if anyone needs anything from me, or just wants to keep in touch. Once I get my Joe room at home built, I'll rejoin in all the posting, customs and pictures. Thanks guys.

Everyone should live there life the way they sit fit, as long as it is not hurting anyone. It sounds like you have to live your life by everyone around you? The job thing I totally understand. the fact that you got away with it at all is pretty amazing. Jobs usually frown on that type of display. But in the house. ~ I don't know....if I was paying the bills (actually I make the money and the girlfriend pays all the bills) I would not put up with that crap. So Kudos to you - maybe that's why I am Divorced..........LOL.

That's pretty sad to hear man. I've always liked seeing the way you displayed your collection at work. I will admit though I was a little worried about some of your collection coming up "missing" every now and again though. You can't trust everyone these days. Hopefully they will be safer at home.
I totally understand what you are going through when it comes to displaying your collection. I once had a nice 2 bedroom apartment in Orlando, FL where I had my collection displayed. Then I had to move back up to NYC and back into my parents small apartment while I was trying to finish up school. Most of my collection has been in storage for years now. Hopefully I will be able to get my own place again sometime soon even though these student loan bills are killing me. As far as coming online at work, it's almost 3:30 AM here in NYC and I'm at work. I work at a local TV station here and I'm the only one on the overnight shift, so basically I can do what I want. I'm responsible for putting the shows on the air, so I have a lot of time with nothing to do until the next show is ready to be put on. If I were to lose this internet privilege at work I would go insane, so I get what you are going through. Ok enough rambling on. Good luck with that basement and lets see some pics when it's all said and done. |

It was good to hear from you. Sorry you can't keep your collection at work anymore. But just like it was posted above mine, it will be safer at home and you can have faith they will be there when you get home. As for the finished basement idea, i love it. Your own GI Joe shrine in a way. You can do with it as you want and display your collection proudly. Anyway, good luck and hope to talk to you soon...

Good to hear from you again Xerofall! I thought for a while you disappeared off the face of the Earth.
Sorry to hear about not being able to display your collection. Was it fellow employees that ratted you out or customers (not sure where you work)? I think it is sad that people would do such a thing. How does it affect them? Anyway glad you made it back! |

it sure was nice of her to 'let you have the basement' lol. you need to watch though, collecting stuff or anything else is cool, but you need to watch it doesnt become an obsession and take over all your free time. i think this might be what your wife is worried about... that or she is frickin craazy lol. either way, try not to stay away to long, i liked your work setup and cant wait to see your basement room.
