I couldn't wait to get the rest and especially when zartan came out! It was one of the best years...

1985
my favorite year and i think it was really the pinnacle of RAH's popularity. It was a year that brought us a new cadre of cobra troopers with special skill sets. A
monster was born in the u.s.s. flagg and we got our greatest version of snake-eyes (ever)!
I will draw on a personal experience though,
on a casual visit to the wal-mart with my grandma, i had a budget of $20 that i had earned pulling weeds and mowing her yard. they just so happened to have a 2 for $5 sale that saturday and it was a whole sidekick display full of 84-85 series figures!!
The ultimate $20 haul=
snake-eyes v2
flint
storm shadow
dusty
alpine
snow serpent
crimson guard
firefly
This was one of my first lessons in being rewarded for hard work. Suffice to say i was a weed pulling fool for the next few years! |

Best Christmas ever. |

Turned out my parents got the Crusader for me and wanted me to think that "Santa" gave me a Crusader and some kid down the street got the one my dad bought!
**It wasn't until years later that my parents told me the truth and laughed at me. I laughed with them. Greatest xmas ever!**
Also, the 1st ninja force commercial where Storm Shadow drops down unsuspectingly behind a Crimson Guard from a helicopter and ambushes him. Man was that enough for me to want that figure!

And what did I find?...Destro! I was so excited. I didn't even know he existed! (Remember those days?) I ran as fast as I could, frantically searching and calling for my dad.
However, my dad had just bought me Panthor from the MOTU line so my chances of getting him were slim. But after some begging and puppy dog faces he broke down and bought it for me. Destro has been my favorite Joe since.
Years later I'm walking through Wal-Mart with my wife. Standard procedure is that she goes and looks for whatever wives's look for while I go to the toys.
And what did I find?...Sigma 6 Destro! I was so excited. I ran as fast as I could, frantically searching and calling for my wife.
However, we had to buy house stuff so my chances of getting him were slim. But after some begging and puppy dog faces she broke down and bought it for me.
Story of my life. |
