Are you very picky concerning paint apps and card quality when purchasing figures? |

If they have 3 of the same figure and 2 are bent, i will buy the better one but, other than that i am just buying these to eventually open. Some of my figures have creases in the cards and most don't. If when my order gets here from bbts and the cards are bent, i won't care. Just as long as it isn't mangled... |

May just be OCD. I do the same when buying DVDs. |

May just be OCD. I do the same when buying DVDs. | I do the same thing with DVD's. I just did that today at Best Buy picking up the exclusive I Am Legend steelbook case. I did the same with all of the Voltron DVD lion tins. I didn't want them to have any dents or scratches. Come to think of it I do this with everthing I buy, no matter what it is. It could be a thread hanging from clothing, or a crushed package of food, whatever the imperfection may be I will pass over purchasing that item and look for a better one.
Well I've been opening more figures today and I keep getting disapointed with things that you can't clearly see when it's still carded. I just opened up a Crimson Guard and the spur on the back of his right foot was missing. It was broken off, but I can't find the piece. I know it doesn't really show when the figure is facing forward, but I know it's broken. Maybe I can just glue something that looks like it on to the back of his foot and use a silver Sharpie to color it.
Oh well add me to the growing list of OCDers on Hisstank. |

Knowing and understanding you have actual OCD, or not being able to control it? |

Knowing and understanding you have actual OCD, or not being able to control it? | When I see or hear the term OCD I think of a documentary I once saw about it. I remember people having a problem where they had to open and close a door a certain number of times before they could enter a room, or turn a switch, faucet, or knob on and off a certain number of times. I've even seen people having to wash their hands a certain number of times in a row. I do not do any of these things, nor do I ever care to do them. I think people with OCD think that something bad will happen to them if they don't do things are certain way. (especially when it comes to counting how many times they do it.) Marc Summers was actually part of this documentary now that someone mentioned it. As far as other game show hosts go, I think Ray Combs might have had OCD too, but didn't he kill himself?
In my case I just work hard for my money, and I don't have much of it, so I expect to get good quality merchandise when I pay for something. It's simple as that. I don't need a bunch of crossed-eyed painted Joes sitting on my shelf. Especially the Rock N' Roll I saw who's right pupil was painted under his eye on his cheek.
Do I think I have a problem, no, but maybe I'm just in denial.

To have OCD you must have compulsions or obsessions alone. You also must realize at some point that your actions are excessive. The problem is that you have to comply with the obsessions to ward off the negative feelings. To have OCD means that one can't live a "normal" life.
With your last statement, you might have OCPD - Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder. These people are not aware of anything abnormal about themselves. They normally have explanations for their actions being rational.
I'm not trying to get to "deep" here. |
