I get it now, he was sonic/psychological warfare, but back then I couldnt bring myself to want him, even though I probably had just about everything else from the time.

Again, not my fave as far as his "job" goes...but a nice figure with a cool name...keeps Joe colorful if anything. |

I'm not sure why folks are saying Lifeline is useless. He was not a pacifist, that is Doc. You can never have too many guys that can save your life. Doc is also pretty useful, he went through several training programs, so he has been around the block a time or two.

If I had to retire a few early, I would first off base my reality on the comics. If on the cartoons then Grand Slam, Flash and Sci-Fi would be out since they were specialized "laser" troopers whereas in the cartoon every green shirt had a XLMR-3A.
Oh yeah. Psyche-Out was a Psychological Operations specialist for those voting him out. PSYOP is very much the trend in the global war on terror. It is all about mind bending, identifying target audiences and feeding them the message. Now Psyche-Out seemed to be more along the line of the Cold War ultra low wave mind control brain wave crap that only the CIA played around with according to Discovery and History Channels. Bullhorn is also technically a PSYOP'er. Our PSYOP tactical teams are basically loudspeaker teams that broadcast an audible message. Lifeline was a pacifist in both the comics and the cartoons. he made a big deal about in his introduction in the cartoon as Lift Ticket was arming the Tomahawk (an assault ship not a medevac). He also talked about in the Special Missions series of comics if memory serves me. Bottomline, never can have enough medics with the ground forces, that is why basic trainees are getting combat lifesaver training these days and most Specialists have some sort of first responder/advanced trauma control training. Back to my comic related vote. - First, either promote or retire the originals (minus Hawk who seems to have been promoted adequately). I know in comic world, time is kind of a variable but seriously why are they all E-4 and E-5s 25 years later? Hello, where is the RIF program?? Quick Kick - not good enough for "Ninja Force" - never really used as his file card indicated (seems he should have been an unmasked SE that had vocal cords) Blowtorch and Charbroil - flamethrowers have not been used in ages. Geneva Convention... Zap - unless he updated that Bazooka. Larry Hama mentioned it in 1982 that it was already obsolete. Give him a Javelin or a Carl Gustav. All the specific weather specialists. Joes need to be multi-functional. Can I really afford to keep a guy around who only deploys to the cold or jungle as a specialist? I suppose if they were Green Berets and had the language capabilities or were politically attuned but how many cold weather bubbas do I need on books? Seems Hawk or Duke hired a new one every year. I would also dig into personalities and start cutting the non-team player types like Deep Six or Leatherneck. No one wants to sit in a hide site with a guy that is bitter or stand offish ALL THE TIME. |
