As a kid, I made many of the "useless" Joes (like BBQ) infantry guys....I'd just give him them the extra guns from the accessory packs and they'd be up on the frontline, too. Now that I look back, the argument can be made for many Joes that they're useless:
QUICK KICK: Put some shoes on, man. If you're barefoot in the middle of a battle, there's a good chance you're going to step on something sharp. And you have a sword and nunchuks, the enemy has automatic weapons and rockets....no wonder he's dead (although I think I remember using a gun in the Marvel Comics). FLINT: I was never sure what he was supposed to be....another commanding officer? How many guys are in charge, here? I thought "Warrant Officer" meant he was like an MP.....but later found out he could fly helicopters, too. I guess its good to have another helicopter pilot. He looked cool though. STARDUSTER: I would think that anyone in America's top secret counter-terrorist task force can strap on a jetpack, fly around and shoot at crap. Just cross-train these guys, and save us taxpayers some $$$. Again, he did look cool. BUDO: A Samurai? In the 1980s? No. I think alot of the post-1987 guys may have been redundant and a bit useless, but I understand if the point was to replace the previous Joes with some fresh meat. |

O.K......honesty time. Snake Eyes is hands down my favorite Joe. However, in the scenario PitViper started this thread with, I think SE would be one of the first to go. He dosent talk, so communication between him and the rest of the "team" dosent exsist, and lets face it, in real world operations like the ones the Joes go on, communication is the key to victory. Also, he comes in and out of the picture. You never know when he's going to go off on his own little quest and leave the team to fend for themselves. Not the most reliable of the bunch for sure. So yeah, he would be one of the first cut from the pay-roll so that talking team playing members could still be on the team.

Sgt. Slaughter - A group comprised of the best the military has to offer is well beyond needing a "Drill Instructor" of any variety. It'd be different if he were introduced at the same time as the "Green Shirt Training Program" or something, or was portrayed as indoctrinating trainees or "candidates," but that really wasn't how he was used (and I don't like Beach-Head being used in that role, either...realistically if you're a "training" guy you're not an "active mission" guy at the same time).
Scoop - A supposedly-covert strike team isn't exactly going to want someone around documenting their adventures. This ain't the NFL, they don't watch "game footage" to learn how to play better. |

Bar B Q
I had a hard time seeing him next to duke, or flint on the battle feild in a orange fire suit with a fully enclosed helmet. The only time he was usefull was when Joe Headquarters caught fire... I think his proper place was in the background, sort of the Head fire fighter on the FLAGG or something...

Charbroil and Blowtorch...
technically whats the offensive advantage of having a flamethrower in combat? Besides close range and maybe a wildfire in the forest, there is no advantage of having both guys around in the warfield. I think the bright suits would make them walking targets that any well skilled viper would be able to take out. Ninjas that wear bright colors, uhmmm Ninja Force, Jinx, Budo, etc. The point of being a ninja is to use stealth. Without it you're just a faster than average target for a sniper to pick off. The Joe verse never made sense of having neon colored ninjas fighting in the battle field. Good thing PoC is offering CS Scarlet instead of another Ninja Force Scarlet with lime green and yellow outfit.
