Referring to the STORM SHADOW DDP series, i like the work of Robinson 10X better than that other style of Hueso's. There is no question that they should have not changed artists like they did.
Any opinions?? |

Agreed, I love Robinson's style and thought it worked perfectly for a ninja comic, it is a shame they changed artists like that. I loved that series, as short as it was, and was really looking forward to where it was going. Do you think his art style was a little too much for a GI Joe book? I can't help but think his wild style was a big factor in why the Storm Shadow book wasn't very well recieved.

Here's the cover for issue 7. I did a quick search and couldn't find much of his work, at least this is something.
That cover is cool and all but it really does no justice to his artwork. You have to see the interiors, his art really is awesome. |

Robinson's interiors were not very good. He has improvements by issue 3, but the issues afterwards were so messy. I read in an interview that he said he was going to keep drawing the book until they found someone better. They had someone better the whole time(Steffano Caselli), but he was working on stuff for Marvel. Cueso and the other artist who subbed in during the middle of the run were better sequential artists than Robinson. The guy who did most of the covers was a better artist. On Robinson's issues, the 180 rule is broken a lot(and in this case it aided no purpose), the colors were very sloppy(as if the colorist just colored with blatant disregard in photoshop), and the inks were not even refined that well. The panels do not flow well into one another. Also, it seemed like Robinson said to himself, "HEY BRUCE LEE IS AWESOME WOULDN'T IT BE COOL IF I GAVE STORM SHADOW THE ICONIC YELLOW AND BLACK JUMPSUIT THAT BRUCE WORE IN ONE OF HIS OLD MOVIES AND MADE HIM LOOK LIKE BRUCE LEE?!". The way he is drawn in Master and Apprentice II is far more fitting(even with that series the artwork wasn't the most appealing to me). There is one issue in particular, where the inks are just horrid. I forget which one it is though.
To me, there is no question that there should have been a different artist on board to begin with. Folks like Chris Lie would have done a better job. I haven't seen any interior work by the main cover artist(not the guy who did the cover on issue 7), but if his interior work is good, I would have picked him too. Robinson showed some improvement from the earlier issues, then quickly fell way back down. Suffice to say most of us did not by the book for his artwork. |

SS looks bad@$$, but that chick looks funky (IMO).
Also, we have nothing of the other guy's to compare it to (not to mention this whole arguement is over opinion, not fact)... |

I've seen this topic come up before and the people who don't like Robinson's work are very vocal about it.
