Love the Indy reference, as I myself am making a Joe-like force led by the Jones of today. Someone has to get back all those artifacts Cobra steals, Anyhow, LOVE your stuff, keep 'em coming.

Atoll is still great. How many HISSes on the island? We still haven't seen air support, Cobra or Joe. Great stuff.

My Brother’s Keeper pt 5
Location: Decommissioned Howard Air Force Base, Balboa Panama “Hi Sis,” the voice came to her out of the darkness. Alyssa Stall looked around. She knew the voice even though it had been close to five years since she had heard it. She’d recognize her oldest brother’s voice no matter where and no matter how long ago it was. It was a nightmare scene that surrounded her. Members of the United States Air Force Phoenix Raven Security Team lay dead around her, alongside the technicians and other personal that had been supervising and conducting the test of the new anti-radar system. It had been simple enough. They had chosen the decommissioned base formerly known as Howard AFB, since it was thought to be a Panamanian owned facility and no longer had ties to the United States Government. What people didn’t realize was that the base had always remained in the hands of the United States. It had developed into a weapons testing facility for the government. Alyssa was here with her unit, a group of Combat Controllers. Not a position normally open to women, it was a testament to Alyssa’s drive and the Stall name that she had achieved that position. It was rare she saw combat, that glass ceiling still firmly in place. So she did the best she could with what she had to work with. Assignments like this one were how she spent most of her days. The test had been successful. The anti-radar system was everything they could have hoped for. The techs had even cracked a couple of smiles and gave themselves some pats on the back. During one of these exchanges, a tech who had been talking to her, she didn’t know what happened he had been talking and then he had fell. Where there had been a head there was now nothing. Someone had yelled sniper and chaos had erupted. The Phoenix Ravens had reacted quickly, training taking over. They had spread out, taken cover and some had started to escort the techs to safety. That was when the strange army had came out of the jungle. They easily outnumbered the small Air Force unit. They wore blue fatigues, with some kind of red symbol on the chest. The helmets were odd, flaring at the bottom extending down to cover the neck. She had never seen them before. They were methodical and well trained. Advancing slowly, leapfrogging each rank. First rank would lay covering fire and the second would advance. The sniper was deadly. Every shot, and there were many, scored a kill. Soon it was over. It was then that Alyssa had realized that everyone around her was dead. But she was alive. Not a scratch. It was then she heard her brother. ************** “Tom?,” she asked not believing he was here. How and why? He stepped out of the darkness, the moon providing the only light. It was unmistakably him. The walk. That damn cocky walk he’d always had that had driven her crazy. That had always been Tom’s problem, he thought more of himself than anyone else did. He was dressed all in black, except for his head was uncovered. He bore no insignia, just the jet black clothing. It was what he held that put all the pieces together for her. Nonchalantly over his shoulder, barrel pointed up, held in place by his left hand, was a sniper’s rifle. “Who are these people Tom?,” She asked looking around on the ground for something to fight with. She had no sidearm, her part of the testing had been at the station manning the radar itself, one of her specialties, so she hadn’t come equipped with one. Stupid raw recruit mistake, she cursed to herself. It was obvious that Thomas Stall, her older brother, who had somehow escaped the bus on the way to Leavenworth, was the sniper that had just helped kill her unit, the technicians and the dozen Phoenix Ravens. It was true, no matter how it hurt. The quicker she accepted it, she knew, the quicker she could mount some kind of defense or offense or something. She now knew why she was still alive. “These are my new friends,” Thomas Stall said walking forward and leaning against the radar station, as calm and cool as could be. Oblivious to the still bleeding bodies around him. “Why are you here,” she asked. “That should be obvious,” he replied smiling. It was a smile she knew well. The one he gave when he had known he had gotten away with something as a kid. It usually involved the middle brother, Dwight, getting blamed and Thomas getting away with it. It was also the smile he gave her in the same instances, but to her it meant “I know you won’t tell, you’re afraid of me.” And she always had been. He was her brother and she loved him. But she also feared him. And he knew it. “The plans sis,” Tom said, idly tapping his fingers on the side of the equipment. “No Tom,” Alyssa said, tears welling in her eyes. She was tough, always had been. A regular tomboy. Back at base and during basic she had made it a point to beat all the men whenever possible in whatever way possible. She knew she was considered beautiful, but she wasn’t conceited about it, she viewed it as a liability, getting in her way and so she strived to prove she wasn’t just a pretty blond playing war. But this was too much. Her missing brother having killed men that were her friends. Tears were starting to form. “I’m not Tom anymore,” he said reacting quickly. His open palm swung out so fast she never saw it coming, connecting with her cheek and laying her on the ground. “My name is Black Out”. ************* He watched the scene. It was all he could do to not rush out there, sidearm firing. He knew he wouldn’t make it ten feet. Besides the man at the radar unit, the man who know sickened him, and the woman he had knocked down, there were still the two dozen soldiers dressed in the strange uniform. Well twenty-three, he amended, nudging the dead man at his feet with his boot. The man’s head rotated oddly, evidence of a broken neck. Dwight Stall, the middle of the three Stall children, watched the scene. It was his older brother, of that there was no doubt. Dwight had just watched his missing brother strike their sister. Dwight had never wanted to kill anyone so much as he did right then. He had always thought himself a non-violent man, killing only when necessary, but now it was all he could do to stay hidden in the tree line. The man he had looked up to as a kid and as a adult had come to realize had been a broken man, the man he had called brother, the man that had committed a terrible crime and had caused the eventual death of the Stall patriarch, the man that Dwight had always known but never admitted was capable of horrible acts. That same man, his own brother, his flesh and blood, the senior of the three, had struck their younger sister. He knew the others, the rest of the Phoenix Ravens, were dead. Had the enemy even taken any losses? It was hard to tell. He had been on patrol at the edge of the surrounding jungle. He had seen something in the jungle. He’d told his commander that he was investigating. That was when the first shot had gone off, quickly followed by others. The shots had distracted him but just barely. He had still been able to see the blue uniformed man stepping out from behind a tree, assault rifle raised and pointed Dwight’s way. Dwight had dropped to the ground, the man’s shots missing, pulling his sidearm and firing. The other missed. Dwight did not. He had just wounded the man and had quickly bent down and snapped the man’s neck. He hadn’t liked to do it, but there was more fighting behind him and he couldn’t leave a live combatant behind him, no matter how badly wounded. He had been amazed at how quickly it was over. He had just gotten his bearings, trying to decide where he would do the most good when it was over. The rest were dead. He prayed to god his sister, who didn’t even know he was there, wasn’t as well. That was when he’d seen the man, who he had instantly recognized, walk out of the far side of the jungle and had seen the shocked Alyssa turn when the man had spoken. ************* Dwight Stall didn’t know what to do. Thomas obviously wanted the new anti-radar system, or at least the plans. Alyssa wouldn’t give them up. Would Thomas kill her? Would Dwight be able to do something to save her or would he just end up wasting his life? He watched some of the blue uniformed soldiers walked up. One of them said something to Thomas, who grabbed Alyssa and forcibly pulled her away from the system. The one that had talked went to the control panel and typed in some commands and pulled something from the panel, most likely a disk with the plans, schematics and test results. He had to do something now. He holstered his sidearm, grabbing his assault rifle he slung it over his shoulder and grabbed the fallen soldiers. Two weapons were better than one. One man against two dozen, he needed all the firepower he could get and probably wouldn’t be able to reload. He was a good shot, a damn good shot, but this would be almost impossible to pull off. He stood up, watching the group walk away from the equipment. He saw Thomas hand Alyssa off to two men who roughly grabbed her arms and forced her to follow behind her older brother. It was now or never Dwight thought, getting ready to charge out. “I wouldn’t do that man,” came a voice from behind him. He turned just as hands from the sides grabbed him, preventing him from firing the rifle. He’d been so distracted by what was happening with Thomas and Alyssa that he hadn’t heard them approach. Sloppy. And now it had probably cost him and his sister their lives. “We’re friendlies my man,” the owner of the voice said stepping closer, motioning for the two on the sides to let Dwight go. He was black, short hair, wore full jungle camouflage gear and a green beret with a strange unit flash. “The handle’s Stalker.”

Had an idea that this story could be in the works. The story of the Invasion of Springfield may not be to far behind.

They gonna save her? I can't imagine the commander likes prisoners. But then again what is Stalker doing there? This is the first encounter the Joes have with Cobra right?
Still I think you captured the essence of Stalker, the jungle cat, in only two sentences. It gave me goosebumps. Who else is on Stalker's team? Lt Stall or Corporal Stall? Just curious since we've gone over the topic before. |

Just letting you all know that I may not be updating this as much for the next week or so. I have another project that I'm working on and want to see if can get it up and off the ground and get a substantial lead time on it. So the Joe tales are kind of taking a back seat. I'll get some out there, but not at the same frequency that I had been. Then once hopefully get far enough ahead on this other project I can start churning this out at the same pace I was.
Was going to wait and start the other project after got the Atoll, Brother's Keeper, and House on the Cliff done, but go the bug and need to go well it's hot.
