So got alot of stuff lined up that's going to be coming. Finishing off the Ghost Squad story, the "That Others May Live" epic, going to finally do a story showing who the 5 names that Colton requested were and how he recruited 'em. Got to continue the Bullets and Bananas story. I haven't fogotten ol' Booker And got another story detailing the formation of the J.O.E. units called The Fourth Gift (will also provide some more insight into Norseman)

The Fourth Gift pt 1
Location: The White House Time: classified Gen. Colton stood outside the oval office. Odd. There was no one around. No secret service, no assistant. No one. Not really that odd, he thought. The President probably didn’t want it broadcast that he was meeting with a dead man. Colton wondered what the President wanted. They had barely spoken since Colton had accepted the commission of leading and forming the Joint Operations Element, Taskforce Omega. Another lifetime ago it seemed, but only a couple of years. “General,” the blond man said opening the door to the oval office. “He’ll see you now.” Colton nodded to Agent Harvath, one of the President’s Secret Service agents. Colton knew Scot Harvath was a lot more than that. Besides serving as the go-between for the President and Colton, Harvath was also the President’s personal operative, his private warrior that undertook missions only the president authorized. Harvath had saved the life of the president and his daughter early in the president’s first term. Colton had been trying to get the President to let Harvath join the J.O.E. team. Harvath had done some operations with them, under the callsign Norseman. He followed Harvath into the room. The president got up from his desk and walked over to shake Colton’s hand. They took seats opposite each other on the couches across the coffee table. Harvath closed the door and stood by it. “It’s good to see you Joe,” the president said sitting down. “You too sir,” Colton replied. “Three-stars huh,” the president said pointing to Colton’s shoulders. “Get a promotion?” Colton shrugged. “It was the Directors idea. As the unit grew, I needed to bump up the Directors to make more room for the new field commanders. They in turn felt the need to bump me up to keep me ahead of them. Not my idea,” Colton added. The president laughed. “Military men and the chain of command,” he said. “You don’t mind if Agent Harvath remains?” “Not at all,” Colton said. “I bet you’re wondering why I called you here,” the President asked getting up and grabbing some envelopes off his desk. He returned to his seat. “Yes sir,” Colton replied. “As you know Joe my second term in office is almost up. And it’s looking like the Vice President will win the election.” “Yes sir, I realized that. And I remember your warning about the VP being part of the Society.” The President nodded and picked up one of the envelopes. He started tapping it against his leg. “Right, and with him in the Office here,” he said indicating the room. “I’ve talked with the others. Generals Ryan and Hollingsworth and Admirals Dyson and Ledger. They’re already getting pressured to retire and soon. If they don’t do it voluntarily then it’ll be done for them.” “That’s not good news,” Colton remarked. “No, it’s not,” the president said handing Colton the envelope he had been holding. “It means you will be entirely on your own. No one in the government will know of your existence. Which is why I give you this, the first of the last four gifts I have for you.” Colton opened the envelope and quickly scanned the document. “Sir,” he exclaimed. “This is…” “That is your ‘Get out of Jail’ card,” the president said with a sad smirk. “And yes, I know exactly what it says, I wrote it after all.” “Sir,” Colton started. “If I use this, you’ll most likely…” “End up in jail? Put a black mark on my place in history,” the president said. “Probably all that and more. If the existence of Taskforce Omega is discovered, you and the entire unit would be subject to jail time and worse. That document frees you of all responsibility and puts it square on my shoulders, mine and the soon to be retired Generals and Admirals.” The President leaned back and sighed. “I know exactly what will happen if that ever comes out. But better me then you or your men.” He said and then quickly leaned forward again smiling and handed Colton the second envelope. “Let’s hope it never comes to that.” “And who will this one send to jail,” Colton said not happy. He appreciated the gift the President had given him, but didn’t like the meaning and he’d do his damn best to make sure it never had to be used. The president laughed. “No one,” he said. “That one is your ‘carte blanche’.” Colton looked at him wondering exactly what he meant. “In case you ever need it, that document” the president started pointing at the envelope in Colton’s hand. “will give you command of the entire United States Armed Forces.” “What?” Colton exclaimed. “How?” “Read it and find out,” the president said. “Later though. But there is one catch, you’d need to remove the current Commander in Chief.” “Remove,” Colton asked. The President lost all emotion and the weight of this secret war the two men had been involved in could be seen, and the toll it had taken on the man. “Yes,” he said. “Remove. Again, I hope it’s not something that ever has to be done. And that leads into my third gift.” “And that is?” “I know you’ve been wanting to recruit Agent Harvath for awhile now,” the President said indicating the man standing by the door. “When I’m out of office, Scot has agreed to leave the secret service and join Omega.” “That’s good news,” Colton said smiling. “Glad to hear it.” “But,” the President interrupted. “My gift isn’t him, so much as it’s a bit of advice and a hard lesson learned. I know that you realize the role that Agent Harvath has played for me these many years. And it’s been an important and valued one. But it comes with a price, one that Harvath himself pays and that I pay every night when I try to go to sleep. “ The president got up and walked towards the window. Colton looked back at Harvath, his theories of exactly what the man had done as the President’s personal operator being confirmed. He turned his attention back to the President. The man was looking old, his years in office had worn him out. He stared out across the lawn, the memories the many decisions he had made coming back. “There’s a line that separates us and them. It takes a special kind of person that can cross that line and come back over. Do you understand what I mean General,” the President asked without turning around. “Yes sir, I do,” Colton replied and he did. This was a hard war they were fighting. A dirty war. Colton had already had to make many a hard decision and would have to make many more. Having people that would carry out those decisions was a necessity. He knew exactly what use he would make of Harvath, callsign Norseman, and what squad he would be assigned. “You said four gifts sir,” Colton prompted when the President had not continued for awhile. The President turned back to face General Colton, the weight hadn’t disappeared but it had visibly lessened. “Oh yes and this is the best of all,” he said smiling. “I worked long and hard, ever since the day you first accepted my offer and formed Taskforce Omega. The work it took, the hours and the secrets. The deals that were struck. I tell you Joe, I wish I could make this one public, if the world knew the extent of the diplomacy and politics that had been played…” The President trailed off and just shook his head. “I still can’t believe I was able to pull it off.” “Pull what off sir,” Colton asked, intrigued. “Joe, we’re not alone in this fight anymore.”

That Others May Live pt 4
Airborne heard the command over his headset and waited until the two guards outside the door were distracted. Wait for them to turn and… He rushed forward, slamming his elbow into the back of the head of one and grabbing the other from behind and around the head and twisting, hearing the crack of the spine as he let the Grenadier drop. The other was getting up and Airborne pulled out his sidearm and under the chin of the guard, pulling the trigger and getting a pop that he hoped was hidden by the sounds of the explosion. He could hear the rest of the camp heading towards the north, where the truck had blown up and other explosions could be heard. He heard Manly kick open the door and rush inside the house. Keeping guard Airborne saw a group of Grenadiers get into the jeep near the house. Waiting he watched them start it up and head towards the North. Wait for it… As the jeep passed a group of running Grenadiers, Airborne hit the switch on his remote. The jeep exploded, taking out the running group and the Grenadiers inside. He couldn’t see anyone getting up and moving. Too much smoke and debris to make out how many Grenadiers had been taking out by the blast. “Dr. Goestad,” He heard Manly inside the house. “We’re here to rescue you. Are you hurt?” The doctor replied back in something that sounded like German. “Hurry it up,” Airborne called inside. So far no one was checking on the prisoners, at least at their end, he couldn’t see what was happening at the other house. He knew the luck wouldn’t hold up much longer. Soon enough the distraction would make one of the Grenadiers wonder if it was an attempt on the prisoners. They only had minutes at best. Manly appeared at the door, hand on the shoulder of the doctor, leading him on. The doctor resembled the pictures they had seen, old, gray haired, frail looking, glasses. “He going to make it,” Airborne asked gesturing at the doctor. “Hope so,” Manly replied heading towards the edge of the house, Airborne walking backwards in the rear, gun trained on the rest of the village. “It’s a long walk to the extraction point.” “Then get moving,” Airborne ordered. Manly stopped at the corner, made sure the path was clear, and ran for the forest’s edge pulling the doctor with him. The doctor, to his credit, pushed himself to keep up and didn’t complain. With one last look into the village, Airborne turned and followed them into the forest. “Two secure,” Airborne said thumbing on his throat mike. ***** Lifeline quickly took in the scene. Breaker was slow on the uptake, understandable considering the circumstances but he was quick to realize what was happening as Lifeline handed over his assault rifle. Clutch moved out of the way and gladly accepted the sidearm that Lifeline handed him. Lifeline crouched down near the bed quickly looking Foghorn over. “Breaker, take the window, “Clutch ordered clicking the safety off the sidearm. He could see Hit & Run in the doorway, sweeping the barrel of his assault rifle back and forth, but not firing. Breaker got to the window and started pulling the boards down. “We were driving up the road when they ambushed us,” Clutch began watching Lifeline take his backpack off and start pulling out supplies and the medical kit. “Took out the tires, all I could do to keep the van from flipping. We got out, covering fire as we were going to run for the woods. Foghorn was in the rear when the van exploded. He took the brunt of it.” “They got the doctor,” Hit & Run said. “We gotta move.” “Working on it,” Lifeline replied. “With Foghorn down and like…” Clutch paused not sure how to put it. “It didn’t take long for the Grenadiers to round the rest of us up. We transmitted the emergency signal and then they brought us here. We figured they were waiting for transport, take us someone to start the questioning.” “More moving,” Hit & Run shouted. “Less talking.” “We have a problem,” Lifeline replied. “Get in here.” Clutch moved for the door, reached out and grabbed one of the Grenadiers assault rifles. He took up Hit & Runs position. “Crap,” Hit & Run said getting a look at Foghorn for the first time. “Options?” “I can’t move him,” Lifeline replied. “I’d need a board and a stretcher and no way would we be able to run and carry to the extraction. Can we borrow a jeep?” “No,” Hit & Run replied shaking his head. “No roads to the extraction.” “Can we hold here, extract from the village?,” Lifeline asked. “Not an option,” Breaker said turning from the window. “We’d overheard. They had sent for reinforcements, an escort, due here soon. Probably been called and double timing it.” “Can’t hold here, can’t extract him,” Lifeline said looking at Hit & Run. They both knew the options that were available and neither of them were happy with it. “Can you wake him,” Hit & Run asked. “We got incoming,” Breaker said and pulled the trigger. At the door Clutch was also firing. “What’s the hold up” Muskrat’s voice came over the headset. “Hold the door open,” Hit & Run said into the throat mike. “Keep us a path,” he said to Breaker and Clutch. “Wake him.” Lifeline reached into the medical kit and took out a syringe. He searched Foghorn’s arm and found a vein. Poking the syringe in, he pushed the plunger. Second later Foghorn coughed, weakly. “Foghorn,” Hit & Run asked crouching down close. “Can you hear me. Can you understand me.” “W-who-are” Foghorn croaked. Some strength returning but it was obvious he was in a lot of pain and having trouble breathing. “W-where…” “It’s Hit & Run, you were wounded during the mission. We came to rescue you and the others. We can’t extract you and we can’t stay here without jeopardizing the rest of the team and the mission objective.” Silence. Breaker and Clutch paused in their shooting, turned to look back into the house. Lifeline and Hit & Run just silently stared at Foghorn. Lifeline put his hand on Foghorn’s shoulder. Foghorn’s chest rose slowly, his breathing labored and gasping. Hit & Run stood there, shoulders slumped. The sounds outside getting closer, bullets hitting the house. Foghorn looked towards the noise, eyes unseeing, unfocused. Clutch and Breaker started returning fire. “It’s getting hot,” Clutch shouted. Tears started forming in Foghorn’s eyes. “Und-understood,” Foghorn croaked. Some strength returning with his conviction. Lifeline just shook his head, packed up his kit, shouldered his backpack and turned. He got to the door and grabbed his sidearm back from Clutch, taking position and firing single shots when he had a target. Hit & Run remained at the side of the bed. He reached into a pouch and took out a grenade. He guided Foghorns arms and hands onto his chest, putting the grenade between them. “You did good soldier,” Hit & Run said standing up. He tapped Breaker on the shoulder and they all gathered by the door. He grabbed another grenade, pulled the pin, and threw it towards the small group of Grenadiers. The Grenadiers scattered and the team headed for the road. “Cover the door,” Hit & Run said into his throat mike as he covered the withdrawal of the rest. They made it into the woods and started making their way to the north edge. He hit the switch on his remote and the other jeep blew, adding to the confusion and helping to cover their retreat. At the north edge of the forest, where the road came out of the village, the met up with Muskrat who was firing into the square. With the addition of the four other guns, they quickly took out the Grenadiers and headed for the extraction point. **** Thirty minutes later the Iron Grenadier reinforcements arrived and quickly spread throughout the village. Smoke rose from the destroyed vehicles, bodies of Grenadiers lay everywhere. The Grenadiers methodically moved and searched. “Empty,” one of the searchers reported to the commanding officer when he exited the house on the left. “Check the other,” the officer commanded. Three Grenadiers saluted and moved to the house where they had been told the prisoners were being held. Cautiously they approached the building, the bodies of the guards outside the door, the door left open. Nothing could be heard inside. Two of them took up positions on either side of the door and the last raised his rifle and dove into the building coming in low, he rolled into a sitting position gun sweeping as the other two followed him into the room weapons high. “Clear.” “Clear.” “Bed,” the last reported getting up from his low position and approaching the bed. On it lay a man, badly wounded, missing half a leg. The man was not breathing, but he had his hands clutched on top of his chest. The Grenadier poked at the dead soldier, getting no response, he nudged the hands with the barrel of his rifle. Nothing. Reaching down the Grenadier took hold of the dead soldier’s right hand and pulled. “Don’t,” another Grenadier shouted. ********** The helicopter took off into the night sky. It’s occupants lost in their own thoughts as the sound of an explosion sounded in the distance, back where they had come from. They all turned and saw the small explosion and smoke curl into the sky. “You did good soldier,” Hit & Run said to the night.

First appearance of lots of characters and some vehicles. First part of a larger one. And yes, The Platform is what you think it is, and it's not as well.
