I've been a member for about a week now, mostly lurking so that I could get a feel for this place. I must say that I'm impressed. I like this place alot! I think I'll be here for a long time! I've been collecting for only 2 years and I've completed my collection from 1982 through 1990 (my original goal). I got sucked in to getting quite a few foreign figures and convention figures as well because some of them are just too cool to pass up. Then this blasted 25th line came out and had to be so freaking awesome, I'm hooked again. I've got every figure and variant from the 25th line that has been released so far (except for 08 Wave 2, still waiting for that one)
I've been a member at yojoe for quite awhile now, another pretty good board. I do have a question regarding the two sites though. My biggest pet peeve about Joe collecting is that the community (at yojoe anyways) refers to the 25th line in the same version count as ARAH, VvV, etc.... Personally, I think the boxed set Snake Eyes should be referred to as something like 25th version 1, rather than Snake Eyes version 58 or whatever. So is this a common practice outside of that website? Is that how things are referred to here also? So anyways, hi guys!! |

First off...welcome to the board!!
As for your question...I think it depends on the collector how they classify them...not anyone else. Me personally...the 25th line is just that....its own line, that's how I see it...others may differ in that. Basically...its how you see it.

Welcome to the 'Tank, please enjoy your stay ;)
Seriously though, good to have you. I refer to them as 25th, so SE v1 is just that, SE v1. |

It's been confusing me for a while now when I hear 'Snake Eyes Version #' and whatnot. I didn't grow up to see each version evolve so I have no idea which one is version what.
I'd much rather prefer it if it went by which one came first in the 25th line alone. Oh, and welcome!

Welcome!
I've been using (on my collections spreadsheet and in the conversations going on in my head) the same terms that Hasbro's been using - so the 25th has started at v1.

I refer to them based on which version of the character the figure's based on. So, for example I always say that the Snake Eyes from the 5-pack or Wave I '08 is v1 SE and that the Snake Eyes from Wave I '07 is v2 SE. The upcoming Snake Eyes in Wave III '08 is v3 SE to me. I don't think repaints of any mold is a new "version" of a character. For Snake Eyes I believe there have only been 10 actual versions or new designs of the character mold made. I in 1982; II in 1985; III in 1989; IV in 1991; V in 1993; VI & VII both in 2002; VIII in 2004; IX in 2005 and finally X in 2006. That's how I do it anyways.

You know I never really gave it much thought, but I always understood what everyone was talking about when it came to figure classification. That's how insync everyone is here! lol Honestly, I'm not much of a joe collector beyond 1990. To me, there are only 4 versions of snake-eyes and that's all I care to know lol. Oh yea welcome aboard!!
